On 01/18/2026 at approximately 0355 hours, I (Ofc. Kennedy) responded to [700 BLOCK] Bankhead Highway (Southern Suites) regarding the following…

  • A female was in a physical dispute with a male.
  • The male appeared to be intoxicated and in his vehicle.
  • The two were actively physically fighting.
  • The female was now inside the male’s vehicle during the altercation.
  • An additional female is now hitting the male as well.
  • The male is driving a white vehicle.

Upon arrival, I located a white vehicle on the left side of the complex. The white vehicle had its taillight active, which led me to believe it may be the one the dispatcher said was involved. As I approached the vehicle, I noticed three individuals nearby. I activated my blue lights. I observed one male and two females. I observed all three individuals appearing to be in a heated argument. The individuals were loud, obnoxious, and aggressive. All parties were seen in each other’s faces while taking an aggressive stance/manner towards one another.

I immediately exited my patrol vehicle to make contact. I commanded all three parties to separate. I was able to make contact with the male first. I had the male, later identified as Nicholas Butler, relocate to the front of my patrol vehicle.

Butler began walking to the front of my marked patrol vehicle. His clothes looked disarranged, his eyes appeared glassy and red, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage was coming from his person. I observed active bleeding coming from his mouth and lip area on his face. Upon observation, my suspicion grew that a physical altercation had occurred before my arrival.

It should be noted that numerous calls were made regarding a dispute at the same hotel. This was the third call law enforcement received regarding the same individuals being loud and obnoxious and engaging in a dispute. During the previous call, law enforcement had instructed Butler to leave the premises for the evening to create separation between him and the additional parties. Due to their inability to get along and for the safety of all parties, Butler agreed to leave. Witness testimony revealed that Butler returned shortly after law enforcement left the scene and began disputing with additional parties once more. Butler denied medical attention from EMS.

With Butler separated from the two female parties, I asked him what had happened prior to my arrival. Butler stated the following…

  • I did not hit her in the face.
  • The cops just came here.
  • I am just trying to leave.
  • The girls are trying to lie about me.

These are not direct quotes from Butler, but rather generalized statements made to law enforcement at the time of the incident.

Ofc. Osbourne arrived on the scene. Ofc. Osbourne spoke with Butler more regarding the incident. See narrative for details.

I redirected to speak with one of the females. The female, later identified as Starrlett Valladares, stated the following…

  • She and Butler had been in a relationship for 5 months.
  • She and Butler had been staying at the Southern Suites for approximately 2 weeks in Room [REDACTED].
  • The incident began when her friend Caylon was looking for her debit card.
  • Her friend Caylon could not find her debit card and believed Butler had it.
  • Caylon confronted Butler about her debit card.
  • Butler was attempting to leave the hotel in his vehicle when Caylon confronted him about the debit card.
  • Butler had been drinking. He had approximately two liquor drinks.
  • Due to his being impaired and previously upset, she and Caylon did not want him to drive or leave with her debit card.
  • While Caylon was attempting to confront Butler regarding the debit card, Butler became upset.
  • Butler was seen pushing Caylon and getting in her face.
  • When she observed Butler push Caylon, she approached him and began yelling at him.
  • She then struck Butler twice in the face after he pushed Caylon.
  • She struck Butler in the face while he was sitting in his vehicle. She swung on him through the window of his vehicle.
  • Law enforcement arrived right after this occurred.

These are not direct quotes from Starrlett, but rather generalized statements made to law enforcement at the time of the incident.

I spoke with Caylon briefly regarding the situation. Caylon stated the following…

  • A dispute did occur between Butler and Starrlett.
  • Both of them had been drinking.
  • Butler has also been using multiple amphetamines.
  • She had been drinking too.
  • The incident occurred when she attempted to retrieve her debit card from Butler.
  • She was pushed/shoved by Butler up against her vehicle.
  • Butler pushed her after she confronted him regarding the debit card.
  • Starrlett was the primary aggressor in the incident.
  • Starrlett had been yelling at Butler and then struck Butler in the face.

These are not direct quotes from Caylon, but rather generalized statements made to law enforcement at the time of the incident.

After speaking with all parties on scene, I called the complainant to obtain more information. The complainant was identified as [WITNESS #1]. [WITNESS #1] was the occupant of Room [REDACTED]. [WITNESS #1] admitted to not previously knowing the three parties involved in the incident. [WITNESS #1] stated the following…

  • She had previously called on the same individuals due to their being loud and aggressive with one another.
  • Law enforcement arrived and told the male he needed to leave.
  • She was staying in the room next to the individuals so she could hear much of what was going on.
  • The male returned after law enforcement instructed him to leave, and he and the female resumed arguing.
  • Her husband attempted to go outside when he observed all three of them fighting and yelling.
  • She relocated outside to observe the fight.
  • She observed the females hitting the male.
  • The fight appeared to be over a debit card.

These are not direct quotes from [WITNESS #1], but rather generalized statements made to law enforcement at the time of the incident.

Due to Butler returning to the property to confront Starrlett after previously being told by law enforcement to leave and not return, multiple calls and unbiased witness stating that Butler and Starrlett had been loud and obnoxious, and witnessing Butler and Starrlett in each other faces appearing to show aggressive behavior, and both females stating that Butler physically pushed one of the parties during the dispute, he was arrested and charged with the following…

  • Disorderly Conduct – Provoke/Engage/Fight: C66-7(A)(4)
  • Disorderly Conduct – Public Drunk: C66-7(A)(21)

Due to Starrlett being involved in a physical dispute, her admitting to striking Butler multiple times in the face, observing active bleeding on Butler’s face, which indicated a physical altercation occurred, and her admitting to consuming alcohol while being the age of 18, she was arrested and charged with the following…

  • Disorderly Conduct – Provoke/Engage/Fight: C66-7(A)(4)
  • Consuming Alcohol Beverages Under the Age of 21: C6-86A2

Caylon was cited for Consuming Alcohol Beverages Under the Age of 21 (C6-86A2). She was released on scene and cited to appear in court at a later date.

Both Butler and Starrlett were placed in handcuffs, both hands to the rear. Starrlett was relocated to my marked patrol vehicle and placed in the backseat for transport. Butler was relocated to Ofc. Osbourne’s marked vehicle was placed in the rear for transport. Both were transported to Carroll County Jail and turned over to staff for booking.
