[NARRATIVE #1 on May 29, 2026]

On 05/29/2026 at approximately 03:56 hours, I responded to [1300 BLOCK] Lovvorn Road apartment [REDACTED] (West Woods Student Living) in reference to aggravated assault. Other units arrived on scene prior to me and had already located the suspect in apartment [REDACTED]. The suspect, Tyrone Jones and occupant [REDACTED], refused to exit the apartment. Tyrone also had a Failure to Appear warrant on a previous Battery charge.

I responded directly to apartment [REDACTED] to assist other units. Sgt. Moreau advised me that a search warrant was being typed for the apartment. I advised other officers that I would have K9 Kefla on standby in the event that someone did not comply upon entry.

I have been a K9 Handler since July 1, 2024, and was paired with K9 Kefla. We have completed a 12-week training course together through Arete Canine, including Tracking-Trailing/Area search (Patrol Route). Kefla and I are certified through the nationally recognized organization, National Narcotics Detection Dog Association (NNDDA). We are certified in tracking, narcotics, and apprehension.

Cpl. Mondi breached the front door of apartment [REDACTED] while Ofc. Darling made several announcements that if they did not exit the apartment, they would be dog bit. These announcements were made several times while officers cleared the apartment. Ofc. Darling stated several times, “Carrollton Police Department, come out now, or you will be dog bit”. No one complied and came out of the apartment.

Units breached a door, and [REDACTED] and her three kids exited that room. I moved K9 Kefla out of the way so they could exit.

Officers made it to the rear-most bedroom, and I could hear and see them giving commands for someone, later identified as Tyrone, to show his hands. It sounded like Tyrone was not complying. I heard several officers repeatedly giving clear commands. I moved up with K9 Kefla to the bedroom and then to the front of the stack. I could see a black male, Tyrone, lying on his side with his back to us. I could not see Tyrone’s hands as they were under the blanket.

At this time, I knew Tyrone had committed aggravated assault on the victim. I also know that Tyrone has warrants for his arrest on a separate case involving physical violence. It was evident to me that Tyrone was a violent person. Tyrone was not showing his hands or complying in any way. I did not know if Tyrone had any weapons on his person and was going to ambush officers. I deployed K9 Kefla and gave her commands to bite Tyrone in fear for the safety of officers.

K9 Kefla initially did not see Tyrone lying on the bed because he was under a blanket. K9 Kefla circled the room and came back to me. I advised other officers to move up with me, and I was going to place K9 Kefla on a bite. K9 Kefla made physical contact with Tyrone’s left calf, which was still under the blanket. K9 Kefla let go and attempted to regrip on Tyrone’s leg. At this time, Tyrone was still concealing his hands and not complying.

Officers removed Tyrone from the bed, and K9 Kefla let him go. K9 Kefla had the blanket in her mouth, and I gave her commands to release the blanket. Officers were still actively fighting Tyrone. Officers secured Tyrone in handcuffs, and he was removed from the room.

I took K9 Kefla from the apartment and checked over her for injuries. Kefla was not injured. I returned K9 Kefla to her transport kennel.

An ambulance was called for Tyrone.

I returned to the apartment and assisted in locating any other pertinent evidence.

[NARRATIVE #2 on May 29, 2026]

On May 29, 2026, at approximately 03:55 hours, I responded to [1300 BLOCK] Lovvorn Road, West Wood Apartment [REDACTED], in reference to an assault.

Upon my arrival, I met with the victim, later identified as [VICTIM #1]. I observed [VICTIM #1] with a swollen, lacerated upper lip, a knot on his forehead, and an injury to his lower right back, a small injury to his right hand, and markings on his neck.

He stated that he arrived at apartment [REDACTED] at approximately 02:00 hours with [REDACTED] to pick up her son, [REDACTED]. [VICTIM #1] stated that he was inside the apartment drinking with [REDACTED] and offender Tyrone Jones Sr. He stated that the other offender, later identified as Rodnisha Dykes, was possibly in a back room, and he did not know she was inside. The following individuals were also located inside the apartment: [REDACTED], [REDACTED], [REDACTED], and a juvenile.

[VICTIM #1] stated that he spoke to [REDACTED] for approximately fifteen minutes before [REDACTED] left the apartment and did not come back.

[VICTIM #1] stated that Tyrone, himself, and [REDACTED] started drinking in the kitchen area when he and Tyrone went to the master bedroom. [REDACTED] was lying on the bed in the master bedroom. [VICTIM #1] stated that everything was going good until [REDACTED] brought up [REDACTED]. [VICTIM #1] stated that [REDACTED] began calling him a snitch, and a verbal argument ensued between him and Tyrone. [REDACTED] and Tyrone believe that [VICTIM #1] snitched on [REDACTED]. [VICTIM #1] stated that Tyrone then grabbed him by the shirt with two hands and started telling him he was a snitch.

[VICTIM #1] stated that Rodnisha came from somewhere else in the apartment and punched him in the face. [VICTIM #1] stated that he told them he wanted to leave and needed his phone. [VICTIM #1] stated that he was able to leave the apartment but forgot his iPhone 11, which was black in color, inside the apartment, so he went back. He stated that he knocked on the door to ask for his phone, and Tyrone answered the door.

Tyrone told him that his phone was inside on the kitchen counter, and after walking inside the apartment, Tyrone locked the door. While [VICTIM #1] was looking for his phone, Tyrone grabbed him by the shirt again. [VICTIM #1] stated that Tyrone began grabbing him by the shirt and telling him he was a snitch. Tyrone also told [VICTIM #1] to tell the truth. [VICTIM #1] stated that he is telling Tyrone to give him his phone and stop touching him. He then started tossing [VICTIM #1] around and threw him out of the room into the living room. Tyrone also slammed him on the counter. [VICTIM #1] stated that when Tyrone grabbed him, he punched Tyrone in the face to try to get away. [VICTIM #1] stated that Rodnisha told them to quiet down; she had to work in the morning. This is when Rodnisha comes out of a possible back room and grabs a glass liquor bottle.

[VICTIM #1] stated that Tyrone then puts him in a rear-naked choke hold and begins to bring him to the ground. [VICTIM #1] stated that Rodnisha then hit him in the face approximately four times, and one of the times was in the mouth while he was being choked by Tyrone. [VICTIM #1] stated that after the first hit with the bottle, Rodnisha started pouring the liquor on him while he was on the ground. [VICTIM #1] stated that while he was getting hit, he was telling them that he just wanted his phone and he was going to call the police.

[VICTIM #1] stated that he believes he blacked out either from the chokehold or when he got hit by the bottle after the first hit, and the next thing he remembers, he is facedown in the living room. [VICTIM #1] stated that while he was facedown, he started spitting blood, and he was told by Tyrone to get up and go wash your face off. He then got up and washed his face off in the kitchen sink. While washing his face, he is told that he needs to clean up the blood, and [REDACTED] begins to clean the blood. Tyrone is telling [VICTIM #1] that he needs to calm down during this time. [VICTIM #1] stated that Rodnisha left the apartment but came back and busted through the door because it was locked and left again. [VICTIM #1] was able to leave the apartment after washing his face and noticed Rodnisha at the bottom of the outside staircase.

[VICTIM #1] stated that everyone inside the apartment witnessed the altercation, other than [REDACTED]. [VICTIM #1] stated that [REDACTED] was telling them they needed to stop because her child was in the bed. He stated that he remembered someone saying stop but could not recall who it was.

[VICTIM #1] stated that he was on FaceTime with his mother the second time he went into the apartment. He stated that he wanted to show his mother all the people who were trying to jump him. [VICTIM #1] stated that Rodnisha grabbed his phone and slammed it down, breaking it.

[WITNESS #1] [VICTIM #1]’s mother stated that she had seen a group of people and identified Rodnisha as one of them. She stated that all she could hear was a commotion and could not see much due to the phone being waved around.

[VICTIM #1]’s neck injuries seemed to be caused by being placed in a chokehold. His lower back injury looked like it was caused by a shirt being pulled tight to the front.

Pictures were taken of [VICTIM #1]’s injuries, and CID was notified.
