On the date of 11/10/2025, I, Sgt. Cheatwood #266 was patrolling the area of the bypass when I overheard a call come out at [400 BLOCK] Hays Mill Road. Officers where advised that Travis Boykin was having an “episode” and officers needed to get their quickly.

I’ve dealt with Boykin many times in the past and knew sometimes he had mental episodes and others he is normally acting out in a altered mental state from alcohol or methamphetamine.

I would arrive on scene rather quickly as I was close. I would see an elderly lady waving me down as I drove by and she was pointed towards the middle of the complex. I drove that directly to see Boykin running around the complex, yelling cursing, sweating and had a white substance build up along the corners of his mouth. Boykin was screaming that, “today was the day, he was about it, I’m not playing today”.

During this moment, Boykin was walking about with a purpose. Chest out, visibly angry, screaming, veins popping with clinched fist.

I continued to try to speak with Boykin while I updated other officers. I would learn to some extent that Boykin was angry with the mother. As we got closer to the apartment, I would try to keep eyes on Boykins and he walked to circles, angry, talking about fighting. I would make an attempt to speak to Boykins mother who stated that several people had called her stating Boykin was being loud and angry and it could be heard through multiple apartments.

While speaking with Boykins mother, I would see other citizens leave their residence. During this time, Boykin was walking strongly towards them, still yelling, cursing and in an aggressive posture as if he was going to walk up and punch them.

Each time, officers would attempt to calm Boykin down.

Through investigation, it was found that Boykin had been ingesting an unknown amount of methamphetamine throughout the last two days. Boykin was experiencing a high and altered mental status from the narcotics during this time along without sleep.

The Mental Crisis Unit was called out to the scene and attempted to evaluate Boykin. Boykin wasn’t the most cooperative during this time and did not believe he was experiencing a crisis to be 10- 13. Boykin was just found to be under the influence of narcotics, causing a rage and acting violent in a public location.

Boykin was charged with a city disorderly citation and transported to the jail.
