[NARRATIVE #1 on August 18, 2023]
On August 18, 2023 Carmichael responded to [60 BLOCK] Perkins lane to meet with a complainant about a male subject who exposed himself to her juvenile daughters.
Upon arrival Cpl Carmichael met with the complainant who stated she was in the parking lot across from [500 BLOCK] West Cloud Springs Rd picking her juvenile children up when a shirtless male exited the abandoned structure, walked into the grass dropped his pants exposing his genitals and began defecating in public view. The complainant got her children away from the area and called law enforcement.
While walking around the area attempting to locate this male subject Cpl Carmichael observed an open door on [500 BLOCK] West Cloud Springs Rd, Cpl Carmichael is familiar with the structure and knows this door is typically secured. Cpl Carmichael approached the structure and announced himself as law enforcement and anyone inside the structure to make them self known, after announcing Cpl Carmichael heard a male subject inside say “who is it,” Cpl Carmichael identified himself as law enforcement again and ordered the subject out.
Offender one (Aaron Christionson), exited the structure and was detained for investigation, after detaining offender one Cpl Carmichael asked if there was anyone else inside the structure, offender one stated his friend was still in there, Cpl Carmichael had offender two (Daniel Schmidt) exit the structure and he was detained as well. Both males were calm and detained with no issues at this time.
Cpl Carmichael began his investigation with offender one, when asked about the initial complaint for the call, he stated he did exit the structure into the grassy area remove his clothing exposing his genitals and defecated in public view.
He stated he was from Chattanooga and came here to get away, when asked why he was in this structure he did not provide an answer and that he did not have permission to be there, he stated him and his friend were just “hanging out” When Cpl Carmicheal was able to get a positive identification on offender one the communications center advised he was a sexual offender out of Chattanooga, offender one stated he was registered for Mast*rbating in public view but he was not mast*rbating this time and he doesn’t have to have a valid address.
Cpl Carmichael spoke to offender two who stated he met offender one who stated this structure belonged to him and it was ok for them to be there. Offender two kept claiming he lived with his mother on Schmidt Rd in Walker County, when asked why the two did not go there instead of on someone else’s property, he said “my mom don’t like people we cant be there.”
Upon arrival of other deputies Cpl Carmichael went to speak to the complainant again, she did wish to seek charges due to his actions in front of her juvenile children.
The Complainant also got into contact with Mr. [VICTIM #1] who is the owner of the structure and the property leading up to [VICTIM #1]’s Funeral Home, and stated that no one is supposed to be inside that structure and he wanted to seek charges due to the offenders breaking into the structure but Cpl Carmichael at this point had not heard from Mr. [VICTIM #1] in person.
Cpl Carmichael returned to the offenders and other Deputies and advised there are charges at the time for offender one and offender two needed to be taken to the residence on Schmidt Rd and verify his residence, offender two was easily placed in Deputy Beasleys patrol vehicle without incident.
Cpl Carmichael told offender one he was under arrest and we were leaving for the jail, offender one immediately became resistant and began yelling and screaming he did not do anything he was not going to jail. Cpl Carmichael grabbed offender one by the left arm and he pulled away in an attempt to run, Cpl Carmichael was unable to grip the offender due to the amount of sweat on his body.
After a couple feet offender one fell on the ground and Deputy Beasley and Cpl Carmichael were able to grab offender one. Offender one scooted on the ground and wrapped his legs around a metal pole in the yard while continuously screaming. Deputy Beasley ordered the offender to unlock his legs multiple times but offender one refused to comply with any orders given. Deputy Beasley explained to the offender if he did not release his legs from around the pole he would use his ECW on him, the offender still refused to comply.
After receiving a drive stun, offender one unlocked his legs and Deputies attempted to get him to a patrol vehicle, offender one became even more resistant and began kicking deputies wildly and throwing his body in all directions preventing Deputies from gaining control. Cpl Carmichael told Deputy Beasley that we needed to use his patrol vehicle and needed to make offender two go sit down until we could get offender one secure.
Offender two was placed back on the front porch of the structure and a second attempt was made to get offender one into the patrol vehicle. As soon as deputies attempted offender one again became hostile kicking at deputies and flopping his body weight preventing deputies from gaining control, in an attempt to gain control Deputy Beasley deployed OC spray to gain some compliance from offender one.
The OC spray had no effect and offender one resumed obstructing deputies. Cpl Carmichael asked for any unit with leg shackles to respond to secure the offenders legs, prior to FOPD 109s arrival to the scene one last attempt was made to gain compliance and get the offender into the vehicle without success, Deputy Beasley again gave a direct spray of OC to the offender with no effect.
Once leg shackles were on scene Cpl Carmichael held the offender in place and Deputy Beasley attempted to apply them, the offender began kicking and screaming attempting to prevent them from being applied, after a short struggle and Deputy Beasley being kicked multiple times the shackles were applied and locked.
Deputies took control of the offender while carrying him to the patrol vehicle he was resisting by any means necessary, flailing, kicking, turning twisting, at one point attempted to do a “flip” making it impossible to gain control and get him into the patrol vehicle.
After a struggle, offender one was placed halfway int the patrol vehicle but then began using the patrol vehicle and an anchor to continuously resist, Cpl Carmichael got the front half of the offenders body in the vehicle and Deputy Beasley went to the other side of the vehicle to pull the offender through, Cpl Carmichael was able to get the offender in the vehicle and shut the door.
Before being completely secured the offender began trying to exit the vehicle on the opposite side with Deputy Beasley, Cpl Carmichael went to the other side of the vehicle, Cpl Carmichael and other Deputies continuously gave commands to stop resisting, and the offender refused to comply.
Cpl Carmichael did use his ECW to drive stun offender one in the upper abdomen in an attempt to get him to fold at the waist so the door could be secured but the effect did not produce the results, offender one continued to use his legs using the passenger side door to press against creating resistance, Cpl Carmichael deployed a second drive stun in the offenders right side abdomen in an attempt to get him to fold at the hip again but offender one still would not stop kicking off against the passenger side door.
When Lt Cunningham arrived on scene he went to the offenders legs on the opposite side of the vehicle attempting to get the offender secured, the offender had his right foot lodged under the passenger side door preventing Lt. Cunningham from getting it free to secure him, Cpl Carmichael used his ECW one last time in the offenders lower leg to get it free from the door, and Lt Cunningham was able to get the offender all the way inside the vehicle and secured.
Cpl Carmichael had Deputy Penson respond to Mr. [VICTIM #1]s residence to confirm he wanted to seek charges on the offenders. After a brief time Deputy Penson advised over the radio Mr. [VICTIM #1] does want to seek charges. Offender two was advised and remained completely compliant, offender two was searched for weapons or contraband with none found, then placed in the rear compartment of Cpl Carmichael’s patrol vehicle and seat belted in.
Both offenders were transported to the Catoosa County Detention facility without issue and turned over to detention staff.
Rear of the patrol vehicle was searched before and after transport but nothing located.

[NARRATIVE #2 on August 18, 2023]
On August 18th, 2023 at approximately 1756 hours, Lt Cunningham arrived on scene to assist the other deputies on scene. Lt. Cunningham observed the deputies attempting to put the offender in the back of the patrol car.
Lt. Cunningham went to the passenger side of the vehicle and observed the offender had his feet braced against the cage. Lt. Cunningham grabbed both the offenders feet and the offender was placed in the vehicle without further incident. The offender did briefly get his left foot outside the vehicle and Cpl. Carmichael drive stunned him and we were able to secure him.
Lt. Cunningham followed Cpl. Carmichael and Deputy Beasley to detention to assist with the offender. Once in detention, Deputy Beasley stated he had used his OC spray on the offender during the struggle. Lt. Cunningham made contact with the offender and asked if he was hurting anywhere and he stated he was not. Lt. Cunningham asked the offender if he needed to wash his face and he asked to just wipe his forehead off. Deputy Beasley wiped the offender’s forehead off with a paper towel.

[NARRATIVE #3 on August 18, 2023]
On 8/18/2023 Deputy Beasley responded to the listed address with Cpl. Carmichael. Deputy Beasley arrived on scene with other deputies and both of the offenders were already detained. Offender one identified as (Aaron Christianson) and offender two identified as (Daniel Schmidt).
Deputy Beasley and Cpl. Carmichael conducted a search of the abandoned residence and both of the offenders had bags of belongings and beds made in the floor on the second floor. Deputy Beasley made his way back outside the residence and stayed with both the offenders while Cpl. Carmichael gather more information on the incident.
Deputy Beasley was still standing by with the offenders. Cpl. Carmichael stated that offender 2 needed to be placed in the rear compartment of Deputy Beasley’s patrol vehicle to take him to the Schmidt Rd address he gave to verify it. Deputy Beasley placed offender two in the rear compartment of the vehicle with no incident.
Cpl. Carmichael was attempting to get offender one to a vehicle, but when he was told he was going to jail he became resistant and yelling saying he is not going to jail. Offender one began to pull away from Deputies and tried to run away but fell to the ground. Deputy Beasley and Cpl. Carmichael tried to gain control of offender one.
Offender one slid on the ground and wrapped his legs around a metal clothing pole that was in the yard. Deputies gave offender one multiple lawful commands to let go of the pole but the offender did not while still hanging onto the pole and screaming. Deputy Beasley noticed that the body camera was not activated at this point but it was turned on at this time.
Deputy Beasley ordered offender one to get go of the pole multiple times or he was going to be exposed to the ECW, But the offender still refused to comply with orders. After the offender received a drive stun the the left thigh he let go of the pole for a few seconds and then latched onto the pole with his legs once more.
Deputies attempted to pull offender one away from the pole and were successful. Offender one then started kicking Deputies uncontrollably and throwing his body in every way he could to hinder Deputies from gaining control. Offender two was removed from Deputy Beasley’s vehicle by Deputy Penson and was told to stay seated on the front porch of the residence until offender one was in a vehicle.
Deputies attempted to get offender one inside of the patrol vehicle one more time and the offender immediately became violent by kicking at Deputies and throwing his body around to prevent Deputies from gaining control of him. Deputy Beasley’s body camera fell off his body at some point during this event and the body camera shut off. It was very hard to hold on to offender one due to the amount of sweat coming off of his body.
Deputy Beasley was able to get the body camera back on at this point. In a attempt to gain control of the offender Deputy Beasley deployed OC spray to the offenders forehead to gain compliance with the orders that were being given. Deputies gave the offender multiple orders again to get up and sit in the patrol vehicle but offender one still refused to do so.
Offender one still continued to obstruct deputies by kicking and screaming and throwing his body around. Deputies stood by at this time for FOPD 109 so he could bring the leg shackles to the scene so Deputies could gain control of offender ones legs.
Just before the arrival of FOPD 109’s arrival one last attempt was made to get offender one in the patrol vehicle and to gain compliance. Deputy Beasley Deployed a second round of OC spray to the offenders forehead which seamed to have no effect.
Deputy Beasley was able to get the leg shackles on the offender with help from other Deputies. Deputies gave offender one commands to stand up and get in the patrol vehicle and he stated that he was not going to that he would “get back in the kitchen”. Deputy Beasley grabbed onto the leg shackles and Deputies picked offender one up off the ground to get him in the vehicle.
Offender one began to ball his body up and tried to flip over while Deputies were carrying the offender to the patrol vehicle. Once at the patrol vehicle offender one was put in the vehicle head first. Deputy Beasley went around to the driver side rear door to reach in and pull offender one to the other side.
Deputy Beasley was able to pull the offender one to the driver side of the vehicle but offender one managed to use his legs to push his way out of the driver side door preventing the door from being shut. Deputy Beasley was able to keep the offender in the threshold of the door to keep him from getting completely out of the patrol vehicle.
Deputy Beasley used his ECW on offenders one’s back up near the right shoulder in a attempt to get the offender to pull away from it to retreat back inside the patrol vehicle so the door could be secured. This attempt was unsuccessful.
Lt. Cunningham arrived on scene and with his help Deputies were able to get offender one secured in the vehicle. Deputy Beasley transported the offender to the jail with no further issues and he was turned over to detention staff. The rear compartment of the patrol vehicle was searched before and after the incident and nothing was found.
Deputy Beasley’s body worn camera was seeming to have some issues with recording during the struggle with offender one.
