On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at approximately 11:22 P.M., I (Lieutenant Sharif Lockett), along with multiple Eastside Precinct officers, responded to the area of East 37th Street and Wessels Avenue in reference to a check subject/weapon incident, in which a caller named Alvin Dubois, who called from phone number [REDACTED BY AGENCY] called to report that a female subject was chasing him with a firearm. Further call notes indicated that the woman was following him, trying to shoot him, and that the call-taker could hear him say, “Don’t do that.” A ping of the caller’s cell phone showed him in the area of [2100 BLOCK] East 37th Street.

Upon arrival to the area, nobody was outside, running around, or asking for help. There did not appear to be any signs of a struggle, disturbance, or incident. There were no “shots fired” calls, Shot Spotter alerts, or calls of any firearms being discharged in the area. Multiple officers attempted to call the caller, but he did not answer on any of the six callback attempts.

I typed the caller’s phone number in the Savannah Police Department’s Tiburon system, which returned to 61-year-old Alvin Dubois of [2200 BLOCK] East 37th Street. Upon officers arriving at this residence, it appeared vacant, had an indicator in the mailbox that no one resided at the home, and had a lockbox on the exterior front door handle. Ofc. Michael Blackman knocked on the door and announced “Savannah Police Department” multiple times, but no one answered.

At 11:37 P.M., while officers were still on scene, Mr. Dubois called dispatch again to report that someone was shooting at him at [2200 BLOCK] East 37th Street. Again, there were no signs of a disturbance, no “shots fired” calls, no Shot Spotter alerts, or anything occurring outside. Another officer, who responded to the scene, stated that he has dealt with Mr. Dubois in the past and that his van was parked on Wessels Avenue at its intersection with East 37th Street, directly across (west) from [2200 BLOCK] East 37th Street.

The van was a white-colored Ford Econoline with Georgia license plate: [REDACTED], registered to Alvin Dubois and with expired registration since April 19, 2025. Upon knocking on the van, Mr. Dubois was found to be inside (alone), exited, and appeared frantic. He denied consuming any narcotics and stated that his girlfriend, [REDACTED], had been shooting at him but left in her vehicle.

Mr. Dubois was arrested for False Report of a Crime, was transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center to be medically cleared due to possible narcotics consumption, and transported to the Chatham County Detention Center to be booked and processed.
