On 01/05/2026 at approximately 2126 hours, I was dispatched to [500 BLOCK] W. 37th St., Apt. [REDACTED] in reference to a physical domestic incident.

Dispatch notes stated that the caller, [WITNESS #1] (godmother), was calling on behalf of her goddaughter, [VICTIM #1], who had contacted her and reported that [VICTIM #1]’s boyfriend, Anthony King, had allegedly choked her during an argument.

[WITNESS #1] also stated she had a video of the phone call from [VICTIM #1] which captured Anthony King threatening [WITNESS #1] and her family. [WITNESS #1] attempted to send the video to my email; however, it was not successfully delivered. [WITNESS #1] was then provided an Axon upload link so she could upload the video.

I arrived on scene and located the involved parties, Anthony King and [VICTIM #1]. They were separated and interviewed individually.

I first spoke with Anthony King, who stated that nothing had happened and that they had only been involved in a verbal argument. Anthony refused to provide further details and stated it was none of my business.

I then spoke with [VICTIM #1]. During my contact with [VICTIM #1], she displayed behaviors consistent with a possible cognitive and/or mental health impairment, including difficulty speaking in full sentences, limited eye contact, and a child-like demeanor. Dispatch notes also indicated the reporting party claimed [VICTIM #1] had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and had a learning disability, which was not independently confirmed by me.

[VICTIM #1] denied that anything physical occurred between her and Anthony. She stated they had only argued and that Anthony may have yelled at her. While speaking with [VICTIM #1], I observed she repeatedly used her shirt collar to cover the left side of her neck, as if concealing a potential injury. [VICTIM #1] appeared concerned and repeatedly expressed worry about Anthony going to jail.

A short time later, [VICTIM #1]’s mother arrived on scene. I advised her of the allegations and requested assistance in checking for possible injuries to [VICTIM #1]’s neck to confirm or deny the report of strangulation. [VICTIM #1]’s mother pulled [VICTIM #1]’s shirt collar down, and I observed redness and raised skin on the left side of [VICTIM #1]’s neck, consistent with a recent injury. [VICTIM #1] let out a loud squeal and began crying during this and appeared distressed.

I spoke with Anthony King and advised him of the injury I observed on [VICTIM #1]’s neck. I asked him to explain how [VICTIM #1] sustained the injury. Anthony initially denied any physical contact and suggested she may have slipped off the bed and injured her neck. I noted the room was very small and advised Anthony that the injury observed appeared inconsistent with his explanation.

After further questioning, Anthony admitted he placed his hands around [VICTIM #1]’s neck and demonstrated a grabbing motion with both hands as if grabbing a neck. He stated he did not squeeze her neck. Anthony claimed he grabbed her by the neck to calm her down because she was throwing things. I observed no broken items in the room and did not observe items on the floor consistent with objects being thrown, aside from clothing.

Due to the visible injury on [VICTIM #1]’s neck and Anthony’s initial denial that anything physical occurred followed by his admission of placing his hands around her neck, I placed Anthony King in handcuffs and secured him in the rear of my marked patrol vehicle. Anthony was advised he was being detained due to the circumstances and that a domestic violence detective would respond to the scene.

Detective Wright arrived on scene and conducted a follow-up investigation, including speaking with both [VICTIM #1] and Anthony. After concluding his investigation, Detective Wright provided me with the arrest and booking paperwork for Anthony King.

Anthony King was transported to Memorial Hospital for medical clearance and then transported to CCDC without further incident.

Sgt. Simmons was notified of the incident.
