On the above date and time, I was dispatched to 125 Street at the Union Mission in reference to a disorderly subject.
Upon arrival, I made contact with the reporting party and victim, Mrs. [VICTIM #1]. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] advised that the suspect had been extremely agitated toward a group of women, including herself, Mrs. [VICTIM #2], and Mrs. [VICTIM #3], who were speaking with visitors under a tent at the Union Mission. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] stated there was no apparent provocation or escalating interaction prior to the incident.
The suspect was later identified as Ms. April White. According to witness statements, Ms. White abruptly picked up a chair and threw it in the general direction of the women gathered under the tent. The chair did not strike any individual. After throwing the chair, Ms. White placed the chair down and walked away from the area, proceeding to sit at the nearby bus platform.
Officers located Ms. White seated at the bus platform upon arrival. She was detained without incident. During the investigation, it was confirmed that Ms. White was also a suspect in a prior incident (referenced under separate CRN).
Based on witness statements and the totality of the circumstances, probable cause was established to charge Ms. White with Disorderly Conduct under O.C.G.A. § 16-11-39, in that she acted in a violent and tumultuous manner placing others in reasonable fear for their safety. She was additionally charged with Criminal Trespass under O.C.G.A. § 16-7-21 in relation to her actions at the separate location referenced in the prior incident.
Ms. White was formally advised that she is banned from the Union Mission property and may be subject to arrest for Criminal Trespass should she return without authorization.
Ms. White was transported to Chatham County Detention Center by Ofc. Burgess without further incident.
