On October 30th 2025, at 21:25 hours, I responded to 21 Main Street Garden City, Ga 31408 (Savannah Inn Suites) to a domestic violence.
Upon arrival on scene I made contact with the suspect Brian Saunders whom was already in handcuffs. I escorted Brian to my patrol vehicle where I searched his person and placed him in the back passenger side seat.
The victim, [VICTIM #1], stated that she arrived home with food when Brian Saunders who was intoxicated, began arguing with her. [VICTIM #1] stated she was sitting on the bed when Brian began to approach her and throw her to the floor simultaneously placing both his hands around her neck and restricting her from breathing. Brian then used one hand to repeatedly strike her in the face and head with a closed and opened fist. [VICTIM #1] stated she wasn’t sure how long the incident occurred, Brian was actively yelling and told her “B*tch you gonna die”. The victim also stated Brian had his fingers in her mouth during the incident which resulted in her biting his thumb because she could not breathe.
I observed visible injuries, such as redness, swelling, and scratches consistent with the victim’s statement. Brian had redness, and apparent scratches on his chest area which appeared to be defensive wounds from [VICTIM #1]. Brian also had a wound to his thumb which came from [VICTIM #1] biting his thumb while he had his fingers in her mouth. The victim appeared visibly distressed but was alert and oriented. Medical attention was offered and/or provided on scene.
I proceeded to do a Strangulation form with [VICTIM #1] which gave the following results.

Witnesses on scene corroborated the victim’s account. [WITNESS #1] states that he heard a woman repeatedly screaming in what sounded like fear. [WITNESS #1] began knocking on the door when he heard consistent screaming, and eventually contacted police. Based on the statements and observed evidence, officers determined there was probable cause to arrest Saunders for Aggravated Assault- Strangulation (DV) and Battery (DV).
Saunders was transported to Memorial Health Hospital where he received medical attention for injuries sustained during the incident. Saunders was then transported to the Chatham County Detention Center for booking and processing. Photographs of the victim’s injuries and the scene were taken and logged as evidence.
