On March 31, 2026, at approximately 1930 hours, I responded to the Parker’s gas station at 1275 E US Hwy 80 for reports of someone threatening suicide.

On arrival, I observed an adult female (later identified as Carla Shearouse) in the parking lot speaking with officers. Ms. Shearouse did not wish to identify herself and only said that a coworker gave her an edible (THC). She was now feeling funny, but she stated she never threatened to kill herself. It was obvious that Ms. Shearouse was very intoxicated while speaking with her.

A short time later, Ms. Shearouse’s sister [VICTIM #1] arrived on scene and provided me with Ms. Shearouse’s information. Ms. [VICTIM #1] advised that Ms. Shearouse was her twin sister and is currently living with her. She advised that Ms. Shearouse is known to abuse drugs and alcohol and has had various incidents involving her in the past.

Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated Ms. Shearouse once attempted suicide approx 20 years ago by cutting her own throat. She stated her sister has multiple DUI offenses and is no longer able to drive. She stated she believes it is one of her sister’s coworkers who is supplying her with the edibles. She stated her sister occasionally drinks on the job with coworkers as well. Ms. [VICTIM #1] went on to say that she is in the process of moving and does not know where her sister will be staying after she moves.

While speaking with Ms. [VICTIM #1], Pooler Fire and Chatham EMS were tending to Ms. Shearouse in the picnic area adjacent to the parking lot. After evaluating Ms. Shearouse, she was asked if she would like to be transported to the hospital, to which she refused. She was then told by her sister that she would be giving her a ride home, to which she also refused and stated that she would walk.

Ms. Shearouse was visibly intoxicated and was not in a condition to walk home. At this point, Ms. Shearouse became combative and refused to listen to her sister and argued with officers on scene. At one point, when she was instructed to go with her sister, Ms. Shearouse stated, “I’ll f*cking kill her”.

Ms. Shearouse was then placed under arrest in handcuffs that were double locked and checked for fitness. She was searched incident to arrest and placed in the backseat of a patrol vehicle and transported to the Chatham County Detention Center.

Ms. Shearouse was cited and charged with O.C.G.A. 16-11-37 (Terroristic threats and acts DVA), O.C.G.A. 16-11-39 (Disorderly Conduct), and O.C.G.A. 16-11-41 (Public Drunkenness). Ms. Shearouse was not given a bond as it was a D.V.A. charge.
