On 11/02/2025 I was on duty at Bootleggers working an extra duty assignment in my Pooler Police uniform with my marked unit. While working I was advised of a disorderly subject (Carlos Flores) inside the business refusing to leave. This same individual had been bothering patrons calling them “n*gga”, but he was ignored and not asked to leave at this point. He was also asking me random questions asking what I would do if he smoked weed right now in front of me. He was acting out of sorts and saying things that did not make sense.

An hour or so later this individual was now acting disorderly inside the bar and told to leave by staff. The subject refused. I was alerted by the outside bouncer that I was needed inside the bar. Once inside the subject (Carlos Flores) was standing in the rear right side of the bar holding a glass beer bottle. Two bouncers were telling him to leave and attempting to escort him out. I told him it was time to go and attempted to de-escalate him. I advised him that it was not worth going to jail over and that he just needed to leave the business.

Mr. Flores began drinking his beer and dancing where he stood. Mr. Flores refused to leave and took a fighting stance yelling “push me” to the bouncers. I was able to quickly snatch the glass beer bottle out of Mr. Flores’s hand to prevent it from being used as a weapon. This is when the bouncers attempted to gain control of the large 6ft 300b subject and escort him out. Mr. Flores became disorderly and was fighting with the bouncers. They were able to drag him out of the front door of the business and onto the ground. This is when Ofc. Wallace and I attempted to place Mr. Flores in handcuffs. I told Mr. Flores to stay down on the ground while we were trying to put his hands behind his back.

Mr. Flores began to pull his hands to the front and push away to stand on his feet. He was able to muscle his way up and immediately began heading toward the bouncers in an aggressive way. As he aggressively walked towards the front door of the business, I immediately deployed my taser into the back of Mr. Flores’ right side. The first deployment was ineffective, so I deployed my second set of probes into his back. This time it was effective and Mr. Flores went to the ground.

Once on the ground we were able to get on top of his back with my knee and began to handcuff Mr. Flores under power. Once the 5 seconds was up from the taser deployment he began to push up off the ground to get up. He was still pulling his hand away from Ofc. Wallace and I. This is when I reactivated my taser for another 5 seconds. Ofc. Wallace was able to get one handcuff on while I controlled the taser power. Mr. Flores again began to pull his hands under him and tried to push off and stand up. I again ached my taser for a second time and finally Mr. Flores would comply and we were able to handcuff both of his hands using two sets of handcuffs.

EMS and Sgt. Morris responded.
Pictures were taken of Mr. Flores and the taser probes by Sgt. Morris.

Mr. Flores was arrested and charged with,
Obstruction
Disorderly Conduct
Criminal Trespass

He was transported to MMC by Ofc. Wallace where he was medically cleared and then transported to CCDC where he was booked. He was given a Pooler Municipal Court date of 01/15/25 at 10:00 AM. His bond was set at $1500.00.

After the incident, I was advised by staff that during the scuffle inside the bar, some tiles had been broken off the bar, which Mr. Flores was grabbing onto to try and stay on his feet when he refused to leave the business.

Mr. Flores was banned from the location and issued a criminal trespass/banned form.
