On 01/18/2026 at approximately 0600 hours I, Cpl. Medina, responded to Memorial Medical Center (4700 Waters Ave) regarding an assault report. The call notes advised that a patient came into the hospital claiming to be in a car accident, but the person who brought the patient stated that she was involved in a domestic dispute.
Investigation
Upon my arrival I spoke with staff who stated the patient, [VICTIM #1], advised that she was in a car accident, but refused treatment. They advised that [WITNESS #1] told staff that [VICTIM #1] was actually in an altercation with her husband, Dallas Berry. They also advised that [VICTIM #1] had multiple injuries to her face. I was also advised that staff that treated [VICTIM #1] observed visible marks consistent with strangulation on [VICTIM #1]’s neck.
I also spoke with [WITNESS #2], the triage nurse for [VICTIM #1]. She advised that she came in as a trauma patient for a vehicle collision, but they determined that she was not a trauma patient, so they placed her in room A1. [WITNESS #2] further stated that staff attempted to find seatbelt marks from a collision but were unable to find any and stated that they observed redness around the chest/neck area. [WITNESS #2] also stated that [VICTIM #1] had a bandage over her face. [WITNESS #2] also stated that one of [VICTIM #1]’s hands was “f*cked up”.
Interview With [VICTIM #1]
I also spoke with [VICTIM #1]. She stated that she was in a motor vehicle crash but did not know where it occurred at. I asked her who she was with and she told me “[REDACTED]” but did not his last name. I observed that her right ear had dry blood where an earring should have been. I observed that [VICTIM #1] had an earring in her left ear. I asked how her earring had ripped out and she stated that it was from the wreck. I also observed that [VICTIM #1]’s lip was swollen, and I observed red marks that looked like defensive scratch marks around the neck area.
I also noticed that [VICTIM #1] was hiding her right hand from me. When I brought this up to her, she showed me her hand, and I observed that her right hand was heavily bruised and swollen. I also observed raspiness in [VICTIM #1]’s voice. I asked her if her voice is usually as raspy as I observed and she told me no, and that it was from her seatbelt.
Some time later, staff approached me and stated that while getting vitals, [VICTIM #1] repeatedly rubbed her neck and was pulling her sweatshirt away from her neck.
Interview with [WITNESS #1]
I also spoke with [WITNESS #1] over the phone. She stated that [VICTIM #1], who is her neighbor, came to her house and asked for help. She stated that [VICTIM #1] told her that Dallas punched her in the head and kicked her while she was on the ground.
[WITNESS #1] advised that she waited for Dallas to leave before walking over to [VICTIM #1]’s house ([10 BLOCK] Hartland Ct) where she observed items strewn about the house and blood in the bathroom.
[WITNESS #1] also stated that she noticed [VICTIM #1]’s voice was raspier than she has noticed in the past, but she did not mention to [WITNESS #1] that she was strangled. [WITNESS #1] advised that Dallas left in a black Volkswagen Jetta and was possibly intoxicated.
I ran Dallas through CLEAR and found a black 2015 Volkswagen Jetta bearing GA tag [REDACTED] registered to Dallas.
Administrative
I contacted the Family Violence Unit in which Det. Purdee responded.
I also coordinated with Precinct 2 officers to set a perimeter on the house and gave them Dallas’s information.
Supervisor responded.
[VICTIM #1] received a CRN card.
