On October 31, 2025, at approximately 2030hrs, I was dispatched to a domestic violence call at Georgetown Oaks Apartments, [1800 BLOCK] Grove Point Rd Apt [REDACTED] in the unincorporated area of Chatham County.
Upon arrival I made contact with Darrell Page who was waiting outside. Page stated his fiancé [VICTIM #1] called because they were having an argument. Before giving a full statement of the incident, Page stated they had a disagreement. Page stated [VICTIM #1] grabbed his phone and he grabbed hers. Page stated he then “threw her down”. Page stated he grabbed [VICTIM #1] by her neck, as he gestured his hand around his neck, and threw her down on the bed.
When asked if he grabbed her by the throat he stated “yes”. He then described it as a “friendly grab” and suggested it was similar to how he grabs her neck when they are being sexually intimate. He stated he just wanted “keep it real” and be honest about what happened and was prepared to leave to let things cool off. Page stated he did not grab her to hurt her.
Ofc Wells arrived on scene and collected a full statement from Page and I entered their residence to speak with the complainant.
I made contact with the complainant, [VICTIM #1], who stated she had an argument with her fiancé, Darrell Page the night before about her cousin and Page’s son staying at their apartment. [VICTIM #1] stated the argument escalated to the point of Page stating he was going to move out of the apartment. [VICTIM #1] described last night’s events as all verbal and nothing more.
[VICTIM #1] stated the tension remained and when she returned home from this evening at approximately 1730hrs, Page told her to come pick up the rent. [VICTIM #1] stated she was tired and did not feel like leaving the house for anything. Page later arrived at their apartment, and they continued to argue about Page’s son staying with them. [VICTIM #1] asked Page a question and Page said he was going to leave. [VICTIM #1] stated she understood it as he was moving out and not returning. [VICTIM #1] stated she assumed he grabbed his personal items and changed the lock code to the door.
[VICTIM #1] later returned, no specific time was provided. [VICTIM #1] stated Page kicked the door and was upset because she changed the code. [VICTIM #1] opened the door and Page entered the apartment. [VICTIM #1] said Page was throwing things around the house in the front room area. They both went to the bedroom. [VICTIM #1] stated she was laying on the bed while Page continued to “rant and rave”.
[VICTIM #1] stated Page was sitting in a chair near the foot of the bed as they were arguing. [VICTIM #1] stated she eventually disengaged and ignored Page while playing on her phone. [VICTIM #1] stated this further upset Page. Page then stood up and told her to give him his phone back. [VICTIM #1] stated Page bought her that phone and refused to give it to him. Page and [VICTIM #1] tussled over the phone. As Page was trying to snatch the phone from [VICTIM #1]’s hand it fell behind him into the basket of clothes sitting on the floor. [VICTIM #1] jumped up to get the phone from the basket. While trying to get the phone she stated she was pushing [VICTIM #1] away from her as he was standing over her. When [VICTIM #1] stood up, Page grabbed her by the throat and tossed her to the bed.
[VICTIM #1] stated he grabbed her with both hands wrapped around her neck with his thumbs placed along the front of her neck and fingers along both sides. [VICTIM #1] stated once Page realized what he did he immediately sa back down in the chair and said “you gon call the police on me”, “I would never hurt you”. [VICTIM #1] described it as if he felt immediate guilt for his actions. [VICTIM #1] then called the police and stated Page was trying to talk over her while she was communicating with the dispatcher. [VICTIM #1] stated there was no further physical contact. Before police arrived, [VICTIM #1] stated Page was cleaning up the house, picking up all the items he had thrown around.
[VICTIM #1] did not want EMS to respond to the scene. [VICTIM #1] stated she was a nurse and would assess herself and seek treatment as needed.
[VICTIM #1] stated her breathing was not restricted and does not recall feeling pressure due to the sudden shock of the incident. [VICTIM #1] did not report any soreness or pain around her neck. I did not observe any bruises or scratches around [VICTIM #1]’s neck area.
When I spoke with Page a second time, he altered his statement and stated he “mushed” her by the throat. He continued to gesture with his hands open and stated he never squeezed his hands around her neck. Page stated he was under the influence of alcohol and being locked out the apartment where they share the lease is what escalated the situation.
Based on the statements from both parties, I determined Page was the predominant aggressor. Being that Page admitted to using his hands offensively in a manner than was likely to cause strangulation (impede/obstruct breath or blood flow) when he grabbed [VICTIM #1] by the throat and threw her to the bed, I placed Page under arrest for Aggravated Assault.
I performed a search of his person incident to arrest. Page had a total of $1830 in cash on his person which was counted and given to [VICTIM #1] at his request. I transported Page to Memorial Hospital where he was medically cleared. I transported Page to CCDC where he was charged and booked on OCGA 16-5-21(a)(3) Aggravated Assault.
[VICTIM #1] was provided with a case report number and instructions on how to receive a copy.
