On 10/20/2025 at approximately 2050 hours I responded to [1000 BLOCK] E 31st St in reference to a report of threats and custodial abduction.

I knocked on the door of [1000 BLOCK] E 31st St and [VICTIM #1] answered the door. [VICTIM #1] advised that her childs father, Edwin Jones, picked her and their 11 month old son [JUVENILE #1] up from her fathers house at [1600 BLOCK] Abercorn St but could not remember what time. [VICTIM #1] advised that they went for a drive before going out to dinner. [VICTIM #1] advised her and Edwin were having a normal conversation until he began to ask her for money.

[VICTIM #1] advised that Edwin always asks her for money and gets angry when she does not give it to him. She advised that she really did not want to give him money this time because she was trying to save up to buy a car. [VICTIM #1] advised that the argument escalated at Habersham and E 37th St, with her asking Edwin to drop her back off at her dads house. Once they passed her fathers house, [VICTIM #1] advised she knew the situation was going to get worse since he did not plan on taking her home. [VICTIM #1] advised they drove towards Gwinnett St, then East on Gwinnett towards Waters Ave. They then drove South on Waters Ave.

[VICTIM #1] advised that Edwin took her phone and demanded the passcode from her so he can send himself money. She refused to give him the passcode and Edwin began to punch her in the back of the head with a closed fist. [VICTIM #1] advised that she had her hands protecting her head with her forearms in front of her face. She advised that as they travelled down Waters Ave towards Anderson St, Edwin began to roll the windows up and close the sunroof because she was yelling loudly so someone could hear her.

[VICTIM #1] advised that Edwin then pulled out a black firearm with green iron sights and pointed it at her face while still in posession of her phone. [VICTIM #1] advised that Edwin stated multiple times “I dont wanna kill you.” before she jumped out of the moving vehicle between E 31st St and E 32nd St on Waters Ave. [VICTIM #1] advised that she ran north on Waters Ave to E 31st St where she observed a man, [WITNESS #1], sitting on his front porch at [1000 BLOCK] E 31st St. She explained what was going on to [WITNESS #1] and asked to use his phone to call 911.

[VICTIM #1] advised that her son, [JUVENILE #1], was still in the vehicle when she jumped out. She advised that Edwins vehicle was a red audi with damage to the driver side from a previous accident. I observed abrasions to [VICTIM #1]s left leg and left arm. She also had a redness and swelling to the back of her head. EMS responded and [VICTIM #1] refused transport to the hospital on scene.

The resident of [1000 BLOCK] E 31st St, [WITNESS #1], advised he did see what occured while he was sitting on his front porch because he was scrolling on his phone. He only heard [VICTIM #1] at his steps because she was crying for help. He also advised his doorbell camera does not record.

Officers canvassing located Edwin at Enmarket (4202 Montgomery St) and [JUVENILE #1] still in the vehicle and detained Edwin. They advised that the vehicle was a red Audi bearing a GA tag of [REDACTED].

Detective Purdee was notified, responded, and took control of the investigation.

[VICTIM #1] would later be transported to 4202 Montgomery St to take custody of her son.

A supervisor responded.

See Detective Purdees and Officer T. Thorntons report for further information.
