While on uniform patrol in the City of Savannah on November 8, 2025, I responded to 3014 Skidaway Road (Chevron Gas Station).
The call notes stated:
*”CALLER REPORTING HE HAD A MAN PULL A KNIFE ON HIM”
*”RAZOR KNIFE”
*”SUSP SITTING ON THE CORNER”
*”CALLER ADV SUS IS HEADING TOWARDS THE CHEVRON”
*DESCRIPTION: A BLACK MALE IN HIS 50s WEARING A BLACK HAT, A GREEN SHIRT, AND A BLACK JACKET
Upon arriving at the Chevron, other Officers and I observed an individual matching the description given above, later identified as Eric Junior, in front of the Chevron near Skidaway Road. We detained and conducted a Terry Frisk of Eric’s person for a knife to ensure everyone’s safety. A red folding box cutter was found in his right pants pocket.
After this, we asked Eric to explain what was going on, and he pointed out where the victim, later identified as [VICTIM #1], was sitting, across the street at A Touch of Class (3007 Skidaway Road), while rambling on about how [VICTIM #1] stole flowers from him. Other Officers stayed with Eric, while I diverted to [VICTIM #1].
[VICTIM #1] stated that Eric was yelling at him from across the street. According to [VICTIM #1], Eric was on the south side of the Chevron parking lot, and was at A Touch of Class, which is across Skidaway Road or directly to the east of the Chevron. [VICTIM #1] could not hear what Eric was saying, so he began to move towards Skidaway Road, in the direction of Eric. [VICTIM #1] explained that he stopped in the median of the roadway, and Eric had already started to walk towards him as well. [VICTIM #1] could now hear that Eric was accusing him of stealing his flowers, and he responded that he had not done so.
[VICTIM #1] stated that once Eric got closer, he brandished what appeared to be a folding razor (box cutter), pointed it in [VICTIM #1]’s direction, and made multiple threatening statements to him. [VICTIM #1] explained that Eric said things such as, “I will f*ck you up” and “I will kill you.” I asked [VICTIM #1] if he could describe the knife (box cutter), and he described it as a razor where the blade folds outward. I asked what color it was, and [VICTIM #1] explained that he was unsure but possibly blue. He said that after Eric brandished the knife and made the threats, he walked back across Skidway Road to A Touch of Class for his safety.
I also asked if he could tell me where Eric pulled the knife from, and he said his right pants pocket. I finally asked how he felt when Eric did this, and [VICTIM #1] stated that he felt “violated”. When I asked [VICTIM #1] to explain what he meant by that, he said that he felt as if his life was in danger.
While I was speaking to the victim, another individual, [WITNESS #1] approached me and stated that he saw Eric brandish a knife while pointing it in the direction of [VICTIM #1]. [WITNESS #1] was leaving and could not stay for further questions.
After speaking with him, I went back to speak with Eric. Before doing so, I advised Eric of his Miranda Rights, and he agreed to speak with me. I asked Eric to tell me what happened. At first, Eric rambled on about how they use meth and other things, but then he continued to state that [VICTIM #1] stole his flowers, and he noticed today when he moved to that side of the Chevron parking lot. Eric explained that he approached [VICTIM #1]’s boss about the situation. Eric believes that [VICTIM #1] found out about this and became angry.
[VICTIM #1] started to walk across Skidaway Road, with a knife out, towards Eric, while he was sitting down eating. Eric could not describe the knife at all. At first, Eric also stated that he heard the click from the knife opening from across one lane of travel on Skidaway Road. He then came back and stated that he saw [VICTIM #1] walking across the street with it. Eric, at first, also claimed to just lift his shirt up, showing the knife (in his right pants pocket), while telling [VICTIM #1] that it would not be a good idea because he had one too.
After further questioning, Eric changed his story again, stating that he did brandish his knife while making statements to [VICTIM #1] that he would kill him. Eric claimed to do this out of defense because he stated that [VICTIM #1] had a knife out first. As Eric did this, [VICTIM #1] turned around to go back to A Touch of Class.
I then went back to [VICTIM #1] to ask him further questions about the knife Eric claimed he had. When I first reapproached him, I just asked him to go through what happened again. [VICTIM #1]’s statement did not change. When I asked him if he had a knife during the incident, he said that he did not. He explained that he does have a knife, but that it had been in his bag on the back of his bike, which he showed other Officers.
[WITNESS #2], owner of A Touch of Class, was sitting outside during the incident, but she stated that she did not see what happened. She could only hear the arguing going on. She stated that she heard Eric accusing [VICTIM #1] of stealing flowers, but that was all she could make out from the argument. I asked [WITNESS #2] if, to her knowledge, she knew if [VICTIM #1] carried the knife on him or if it stayed in the bag on his bike, and she explained that she had never known him to carry a knife on his person. She was familiar with [VICTIM #1].
[WITNESS #2] also asked to ban Eric from A Touch of Class, which is her business.
Other Officers attempted to retrieve camera footage from Chevron and Vinyl Industries-Savannah, but they were unable to at this time.
I went back to Eric, and he was advised he was being placed under arrest for O.C.G.A. 16-5-21: Aggravated Assault – for brandishing a knife, while pointing it in the direction of [VICTIM #1], and making multiple threatening statements.
During the search incident to arrest of his belongings, 1.49g of a green leafy substance in a plastic bag was found in one of the front compartments of his black backpack. The green leafy substance was field tested using a Marijuana test kit, and it tested positive for it. Eric was then charged with O.C.G.A. 16-13-30, Possession of Marijuana less than an Ounce.
While searching the backpack, food items and tobacco products were found inside it. Due to no one being on scene to release those items to, I discarded them in a trash can at Chevron since they will not be accepted at the property room.
Officer Pack transported Eric to CCDC, where he was booked without incident.
I took the red box cutter (knife), 1.49g of the green leafy substance, and the black backpack with miscellaneous items to the property room. The box cutter and green leafy substance were logged as evidence, and the backpack was logged for safekeeping.
