On December 12th of 2025 at approximately 2350 while on uniformed patrol, I was dispatched to a call for service in reference to a domestic incident at [20 BLOCK] Katama Way.
Prior to arrival Chatham County Dispatch informed me that the suspect was using a knife threatening the victim. I was advised the knife was still with the suspect and that the suspect was still on scene. I was also informed that the victim wanted the suspect removed due to behavioral health problems.
Upon arrival Ericka Richardson, the suspect, was in a vehicle in the driveway. The victim, [VICTIM #1], was at the front of the residence. I spoke to Ericka Richardson while Corporal Lincoln spoke to [VICTIM #1].
Ericka Richardson advised the following:
She was within her home when an argument began with her parents. She advised that she was hot and had nothing to eat so she changed the temperature on the thermostat. Her father then touched it as well and an argument began. Durin the argument her father tackled her. She advised during the interaction she did grab a knife from the kitchen but only because she was in the kitchen. She then showed a video of her sitting on the couch advising that “she did nothing and was sitting on the couch”. She advised that she had nothing to eat and that it would take an hour to go get food.
This ends statement.
During the conversation with Ericka, she would repeat “I’m pregnant”, “I’m hot”, “I’m out of breath”, and “this is my house”. During this conversation Ericka would also change her story from being “tackled” to being “choke slammed” on to a bed. [VICTIM #1] advsied that Ericka was in fact not pregnant.
The knife was found within the vehicle while speaking with Ericka in the center console. The knife was removed from the vehicle and seized as evidence.
I was then shown a video by Corporal Lincoln that was supplied by [VICTIM #1]. This video shows Ericka walking from the couch in the living room towards her mother, [VICTIM #1]. The video shows Ericka stating to “stop recording me” while continually walking toward her mother. Based on both statements given, no physical altercation occurred with her mother prior to the video.
Based on the video of Ericka walking toward her mother with a knife in her right hand while stating to stop recording her, and the original statement of Ericka threatening her after the video ended. This incident was determined to be domestic violence. Ericka Richardson was placed into custody for OCGA 16-5-21 Aggravated Assault based on being the predominate aggressor. Ericka was handcuffed with the handcuffs double locked and checked for fit.
Ericka was escorted to my patrol vehicle where she was searched incident to arrest. Ericka would get very angry and begin to walk away when Corporal Lincoln was attempting to search her person. Ericka would have to be held against the patrol vehicle to stop her from screaming and attempting to push officers away from her. Ericka would then refuse to enter the patrol vehicle while stating “she’s tired” and would sit down halfway in the vehicle. Ericka refused to enter and had to be assisted in the vehicle. Verbal commands were given but Ericka Richardson ignored them.
[VICTIM #1] advised she did not wish to press charges on Ericka. [VICTIM #1] was informed that Ericka will be transported to the hospital for a behavioral health hold per her request, but if Ericka is denied she will go to the Chatham County Detention Center. This was also explained to Ericka Richardson. When [VICTIM #1] was informed Ericka would go to jail, she began to change her story. [VICTIM #1] would state that she did not feel in fear at all and knew Ericka would not attack her.
While Ericka Richardson was in the transport area of my patrol vehicle, she appeared to force herself to throw up.
Ericka Richardson was transported to Memorial Medical Cetner for a 10-13. Ericka Richardson would begin to yell and scream while in the hospital as soon as the medical staff attempted to help her. Ericka Richardson denied all service at the hospital. Ericka Richardson was then escorted back to my patrol vehicle where she would refuse to get back in. Ericka Richardson would have to be assisted in the vehicle once more. Verbal commands were given to Ericka throughout the interaction, but Ericka continued to ignore them.
Ericka Richardson was then transported to the Chatham County Detention Center. While entering the Chatham County Detention Center, Ericka appeared to be making herself gag once more to throw up. Ericka Richardson was then booked into the Chatham County Detention Center for OCGA 16-5-21 Aggravated Assault and OCGA 16-10-24 Obstructing or Hindering Law Enforcement Officers. All of Ericka Richardson belongings that were on her person was placed into her property at the Detention Center.
While on scene the knife was collected as evidence. The knife was submitted into the Chatham County Property and Evidence Room as evidence. The video taken of Ericka Richardson has been uploaded to evidence.com.
On-duty supervisor was on scene.
