[NARRATIVE #1 on December 23, 2025]

On 23DEC2025 at approximately 18:47 I was dispatched to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident on HWY 80 East near Continental Blvd.

Upon arrival, I began blocking and redirecting traffic. After securing the scene, it was discovered the initial vehicle that struck the pedestrian had left the scene. A call was then dispatched advising the vehicle and driver who initially struck the pedestrian was at his house located at [100 BLOCK] Miller Pines Rd. I then went enroute.

Upon arrival at [100 BLOCK] Miller Pines Rd., I was met by Easu Cornelio Ayayla in the driveway. I stepped out of my patrol vehicle and introduced myself and asked what was going on. Mr. Ayala advised that he was driving towards Garden City. He asked if I knew where the Waffle House was and I confirmed (1012 US HWY 80). He advised that there was a white car in the turning lane across from the Waffle House and he started slowing down. He then stated “sense my attention was on the car, I didn’t see a guy. Next thing you know, the millisecond it happened “boom” I hear something and I see my mirror gone. And it happened so fast and there was cars behind me so I didn’t wanna brake, so I just went to my location, I call the cops, I was scared.”.

I then asked if he was in the right lane or left land and he advised he was in the left and he was driving straight, not switching lanes. I then asked for his license and went to look at his truck.

On his truck I observed the passenger mirror ripped off with electrical wires loose as well as scrapes/scratches on the front passenger window.

I then returned to Mr. Ayala. I then asked if he saw a person at the last second and he advised that he did in the millisecond that it happened.

After this, I placed Mr. Ayala in custody utilizing double locked handcuffs for leaving the scene of an accident. I then searched him and placed him in the back seat of my patrol car.

Next, I was advised to take Mr. Ayala to the Pooler Police Department after a Warrant was made for a blood draw to be conducted. I then transported him. Chatham EMS Dstrict Chief [REDACTED] arrived on scene and drew blood from Mr. Ayala.

After the blood draw, I remained at the Pooler Police Department until Traffic arrived and were able to continue their investigation.
