On January 2nd, 2026, I responded to [1300 BLOCK] Damon St. In reference to a fight in progress.
Upon arrival, I spoke with reporting party, [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] explained to me she was at Baker St. park sitting in her vehicle. She explained she does this daily while she plays her numbers until about 1300 Hours. She explained a male who she knows works at the Long Shoreman Hall approached her vehicle and put his arm inside of her window. She explained he grabbed her upper thigh and she told him no and he let go. She stated he reached in her vehicle again and grabbed her leg higher near her vag*na and she said no and cut him slightly with a box cutter. She explained the male got mad and walked away.
She explained he was walking back towards her vehicle with a beer bottle in his hand. She stated she did not know what he was going to do with the bottle. She stated he reached back in her car window and “grabbed her sh*t” really hard. I asked what he grabbed and she stated her vag*na. She stated she took the same box cutter and cut his hand again. She stated she knew she cut him worse the second time. She explained he took his arm out of the vehicle and told her “I am going to get my gun and I am going to fu*k you anyway”. She explained when he went towards his vehicle she backed up and drove to her daughters house. [VICTIM #1] was visibly upset and teary eyed while explaining the situation to me. She showed me the box cutter, which I photographed and uploaded to evidence.com.
She described the male to me as over six feet tall, medium complexion, a little bit of hair on his face, wearing black and driving an older white pickup truck.
I provided her with a case report number.
After leaving [VICTIM #1], I canvassed Baker St. park for the suspect. No one matching his description or bleeding from his hand was on scene. I asked the park patrons what they knew about the man who got cut up, no one had an answer for me.
I then canvassed the Long Shoreman Hall for the suspect vehicle which was not there.
While canvassing Precinct 5 received a call for a stabbing victim at Memorial Hospital.
Myself and CPL Anderson coordinated with Precinct 5 Officers to make contact with the suspect at the hospital. Precinct 5 Officers were able to get on scene, identify the suspect as Gordon Edwards and detain him.
While enroute to Memorial hospital, a call came in from a [WITNESS #1]. [WITNESS #1] explained I spoke with her at the park but did not want to be seen speaking with police. She explained to me she was not at the park during the incident but she was told [VICTIM #1] cut Edwards because he reached in her vehicle and was grabbing her vag*na. She explained she wanted to help and knew no other witness would speak up so she did on their behalf.
CPL Anderson arrived on scene prior to me and spoke with Edwards (See supplemental).
Upon my arrival, Edwards invoked his right to not answer any more questions without a lawyer present.
I placed Edwards into fit checked double locked handcuffs. Hospital staff advised me he was cleared for booking and he had gotten stitches from his hand laceration. (The lacerations were bandaged upon my arrival). Edwards was searched incident to arrest and transported to CCDC.
At CCDC he was denied booking due to high blood pressure. He was transported backed to Memorial Hospital where he was provided care and cleared for booking.
Edwards was transported back to CCDC where he was booked without incident.
Edwards made a spontaneous utterance about his wife telling him to stay away from the park and he should have listened.
