At approximately 09:31hrs on 30 MAR 2026, I was dispatched to the area of [600 BLOCK] Emerald Dr in reference to a possible domestic violence incident in progress. Per the call notes, a female with a knife was fighting with a male and there were kids around them. The notes also advised that the female was trying to stab the male.
Upon my arrival on scene, I made contact with the male party involved, Mr. [VICTIM #1], who was standing beside his car outside of [600 BLOCK] Emerald Dr. Mr. [VICTIM #1] told me that he’d just been involved in an altercation with his ex-girlfriend, with whom he shares no children and has never cohabitated, Ms. Jahniayaa Carter.
Mr. [VICTIM #1] told me that he was visiting Ms. Carter this morning when she began speaking on the phone and wasn’t willing to tell him who she was talking to. Mr. [VICTIM #1] said they then engaged in a verbal altercation and he poured laundry detergent on her clothes to be petty. When I asked Mr. [VICTIM #1] about the involvement of a knife during the incident, Mr. [VICTIM #1] told me he didn’t have any information about a knife to report because he didn’t want anyone to get in trouble. Mr. [VICTIM #1] denied any injuries.
I then made contact with Ms. Carter. Ms. Carter confirmed the aforementioned description of her relationship with Mr. [VICTIM #1], and said Mr. [VICTIM #1] became upset with her today when she wouldn’t tell him who she was on the phone with. Ms. Carter said she and Mr. [VICTIM #1] then argued and she asked him to leave, but that he was unwilling to do so and poured laundry detergent on her clothes. Ms. Carter showed me a pile of clothes with visible blue stains consistent in appearance with laundry detergent. I asked Ms. Carter if she wanted to press charges related to this and Ms. Carter declined.
After concluding my interview with Ms. Carter, I spoke with the 911 caller, Ms. [WITNESS #1]. Ms. [WITNESS #1] reported she saw Mr. [VICTIM #1] leave Ms. Carter’s apartment, followed immediately by Ms. Carter, who was armed with a knife and followed by her child. Ms. [WITNESS #1] said she saw Ms. Carter attempt to slash Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s tires and then attempt to stab Mr. [VICTIM #1] after he stopped her from slashing his tires.
Ms. [WITNESS #1] said Mr. [VICTIM #1] stopped Ms. Carter from stabbing him using his hands, restrained her, lead her back to the front of her apartment, and then released her. Ms. [WITNESS #1] informed me that Ms. Carter then re-approached and appeared to get into Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s vehicle and cut the seats of his car using the knife. Ms. [WITNESS #1] described the knife Ms. Carter used as a steak knife. During my conversation with Ms. [WITNESS #1], she made mention of other, unrelated issues involving Ms. Carter.
Ms. [WITNESS #2], another witness to the incident, corroborated Ms. [WITNESS #1]’s account of events.
Ofc Monexant, who’d been speaking with Mr. [VICTIM #1], told me that Mr. [VICTIM #1] admitted there was a knife involved in the altercation.
At this time, I returned to Ms. Carter and secured her in handcuffs, detaining her for further investigation. I then placed Ms. Carter in the rear seat of my patrol car. After being detained, Ms. Carter began making claims that Mr. [VICTIM #1] manhandled her, and later told a physician at Memorial Medical Center that she was attacked with fists.
Ms. Carter showed me a superficial abrasion to the inside of her right knee and another to the back of her right index finger, both of which she attributed to her altercation with Mr. [VICTIM #1]. Ms. Carter also said she and Ms. [WITNESS #1] have had issues in the past, and disputed Ms. [WITNESS #1]’s credibility as a witness as a result.
I viewed Ocularis camera footage (Frazier Homes building [REDACTED]), which showed Ms. Carter follow Mr. [VICTIM #1] out of [600 BLOCK]A Emerald Dr. The footage then shows Ms. Carter holding a silver object in her right hand and thrusting it toward Mr. [VICTIM #1], who prevents it from striking his body, while a physical alteraction occurs between them. Ms. Carter’s daughter, [WITNESS #3], is clearly visible on scene and in close proximity to the fight while this is occurring. The footage goes on for about another 11-12 minutes (uploaded to Evidence.com).
Ms. Carter was placed under arrest for aggravated assault and cruelty to children in the third degree. I then transported Ms. Carter to the Memorial Medical Center emergency department for medical clearance before transporting her to the Chatham County Detention Center (CCDC). At CCDC, I transferred custody of Ms. Carter without incident.
