On Oct. 15, 2025, I, Ofc. Brenner, along with other officers responded to [10500 BLOCK] Sugar Bush Rd, Savannah, Ga. in response to a domestic incident.

A dispatch call for service was recieved and aired by the communications center that advised the victim’s husband had come to her home with a gun and was trying to break the door. The caller had stated that the suspect was trying to break into the home. Dispatch advised that they heard shots fired. During the call communications center stayed on the line with the victim and could her her screaming along with a male voice in the back ground.

Myself and Cpl. Harper arrived on scene first and began to make contact at the front door. I banged on the door and stated Savannah Police open the door. I then heard muffled voices but I do not know what was said. I banged on the door a second time. The door opened and a white male with his hands empty and raised began walking out of the house. Cpl. Harper secured the male.

I began walking through the home stating Savannah Police is anyone else in here. I observed a firearm with the slide to the rear and magazine still in the firearm on the dining room table to the left as you walk into the home. As I proceeded further into the home I observed the back room’s sliding glass door shattered and broken inward to the room.

I heard a female’s voice coming from the left rear of the residence. As I followed the voice, I saw Mrs. [VICTIM #1] crawling out of the bathroom asking if we got him. I advised her it was safe to exit the bathroom. She walked to the front of the house and sat in the dining room area.

She began to say that about a month ago her husband, James Ciraula, began having issues with depression and started saying her was going to hurt himself. At some point Mr. Ciraulo moved out of the home. At the current time he does not live in the home with Mrs. [VICTIM #1]. She was working from home this morning when Mr. Ciraulo began calling her. She stated that because she was working and because of things he says to her she silenced her phone.

A short time later she heard a car pull into her driveway. She left her home office and went to the front of the home. She observed her husband, Mr. Ciraulo, walking up towards the front door. When she opened the door she could see Mr. Ciraulo holding a firearm. She shut the door and tried to hold it shut then she heard the gun fire. She felt something on the back of her left leg.

When I looked at her left calf I observed a light in color bruise. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] ran to the back bathroom. She is unaware of how Mr. Ciraulo got into the home. While she was in the bathroom, Mr. Ciraulo began hitting the door and attempting to get in. She tried to hold the door closed, but Mr. Ciraulo was able to get in. He grabbed her by the hair and stated your gonna watch me do it.

It was not clear how Mrs. [VICTIM #1] got away from Mr. Ciraulo as officers were arriving on scene.

Sgt. Dantzler responded.
Lt. Allgaier responded.
Cpt. Larry responded.
Det. Purdee responded.
Forensics responded.

Mrs. [VICTIM #1] was advised of SafeShelter.

Mr. Ciraulo was arrested and transported to Chatham COunty Detention Center.

CRN issued.
