On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at approximately 0210 I responded to a 911 hang up at Motel 6 at 6 E Gateway Blvd, no room number provided. While enroute the call notes updates stating three gunshots can be heard in the background, I then activate my emergency lights and sirens.

Upon Arrival Dispatch gave a description of the suspect, older white male wearing a black jacket and khaki and stated that the incident occurred at Lucky’s Bar. While driving up the right side of the building I observed the suspect a white male, later identified as Jeremy Scarth, in a dark jacket and khaki pants facing a door at the north side entrance to the hotel. I then stopped my patrol vehicle and got out of my vehicle and approached the suspect. Without being told, Scarth turned around and held his hands up in the air above his head. I then gave him verbal commands and patted the outside of his clothing for weapons finding an empty kydex holster in front of his waist band.

While patting Scarth down looking for weapons I could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. After patting down Scarth, I with Ofc Pascoe’s help detained Scarth, utilizing his department issues handcuffs that were checked for fitness and double locked, before walking him to the front of Ofc. Pascoe’s patrol car. While walking him Ofc. Miller announced over the radio that she had a gunshot victim and requested EMS. I stood by Scarth who refused to talk to me.

Once it was clear that the victim was deceased, I placed Scarth in the back of my patrol car. Sgt Solomon, my shift supervisor, responded and told me to transport Scarth to the annex so that Detectives could interview him. I then told Scarth to step out of my patrol car, which took a few attempts as Scarth had fallen asleep in the back of my car, so I could pat him down again and discover a small pocketknife in his right-side pocket, which I removed (the knife was later provided to detectives to be placed into evidence). I then explained to Scarth that he is still detained and is being taken in for questioning. I then fastened his seat belt and transported him to the annex without incident.

I then walked Scarth to the interview room removing the handcuffs and cuffing him to the interview table, which was double locked. I then waited for detectives to arrive. While waiting Scarth became increasingly agitated screaming for his lawyer stating he had not done anything. Once Detectives arrived, he again stated he wanted a lawyer, so no interview took place. Detectives then charged him with Murder, for killing Mr. [REDACTED] with a firearm.

I was then relieved by B-watch who took custody of Scarth.
