On Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 08:32 hours, I was dispatched to a disorderly person at Parker’s Kitchen, located at 1601 Dean Forest Road, Pooler, Chatham County, Georgia, 31322.
COMPLAINANT: [WITNESS #1].
[WITNESS #1] stated on this date, the offender, Jerold Barnett, walked in the store and got a fountain drink. Next, Jerold walked to the rear of the store, opened a honey bun, and began eating it. Jerold then walked to the drink area and opened a fruit drink and a water bottle without paying for it. [WITNESS #1] stated he approached Jerold and attempted to manage the situation courteously. However, Jerold became boisterous, yelling profanity, disrupting other customers in the store, and throwing merchandise on the floor. [WITNESS #1] stated he picked up the phone and called the police to handle the matter. [WITNESS #1] stated Jerold then walked out of the store without paying for the merchandise he consumed. All merchandise amounting to approximately $9.39.
I continued my investigation and made contact with Jerold, who was found outside the store, sitting on the sidewalk, with his hand behind his back. While not in custody, Jerold stated and admitted he walked in store and intentionally disrupted the business and consumed merchandise without paying for it. Jerold stated he did it all to go to jail and stay out of the hot weather. [WITNESS #1] stated the business wished to pursue criminal charges and asked for Jerold to be trespassed from the property. Jerold was placed under arrest, handcuffed, and searched. The handcuffs were double-locked and checked for fit. Jerold was secured in the back seat of my patrol vehicle, and the seatbelt was fastened.
In conclusion Jerold was transported to the Chatham County Detention Center where he was booked and processed by the on-duty staff. He was issued two citations containing a court date and was issued $1,700.00 bond. Following transport, the back seat was searched, and no contraband was located. I conclude this incident with an arrest.
