On Sunday, February 01, 2026, at 18:04 hours, I was dispatched to a report of vandalism at 1524 Dean Forest Road, Garden City, Chatham County, Georgia, 31408.
The complainant, [VICTIM #1], stated he was driving on Dean Forest Road and making a right turn onto Old Dean Forest Road. [VICTIM #1] stated a black male who was standing on the property to the east of the road (1524 Dean Forest Road) kicked the passenger side of his vehicle causing damage. [VICTIM #1] stated the offender just stared at him with his hands in his pockets so he became fearful the suspect may be armed. [VICTIM #1] advised he pulled over behind the church and called 911. [VICTIM #1] provided a physical description of the offender. [VICTIM #1] stated he was a black male, wearing a black hoodie, black face mask, black pants, and black shoes. [VICTIM #1] stated the offender was walking away in the direction of Parker’s.
Officers located the offender matching the physical description provided by [VICTIM #1]. The offender identified himself as, Jerold Barnett. Jerold stated he kicked the vehicle because he thought the exhaust was too loud and he is sensitive to that sort of thing.
I placed Jerold in hand restraints behind his back, checked for fit, and double locked. I advised Jerold he was under arrest for disorderly conduct. Jerold had a black shopping bag with him that contained Monster energy drinks and gummy worms. I advised Jerold these items would not be permitted in the jail and I would have to throw them away. Jerold stated he understood. Jerold was placed in the back of Ofc. Jeffers patrol vehicle which was checked for contraband prior to and after transport with none observed.
Jerold was transported to the Chatham County Detention Center for processing. Jerold was given a bond of $1,000.00 per Garden City Municipal Court Judge Lindy Moody. Jerold was given a subpoena to appear in municipal court on March 4, 2026, at 10:00 hours.
[VICTIM #1], who stated he wishes to prosecute, was given a Garden City Police Department victim pamphlet and a case report number. [VICTIM #1] was advised how to obtain a copy of the incident report.
