On Saturday, September 20th, 2025 at approximately 23:00 hrs, I responded to [50 BLOCK] Knollwood Circle for a Domestic.

The caller advised her husband tried to cut her dog’s throat with a knife.

I responded and made contact with [WITNESS #1]. She answered the door and showed me a video of her husband, Joshua Remling, picking her dog up by the neck, raising her upward off the ground, and holding a large knife to her neck. He made a slicing motion across her neck and then threw the dog down. The dog was frantic and crying in pain.

She advised Remling was shouting “ni*ger” and other racial slurs around the home. [WITNESS #1] advised she was going to record him and post the videos online if he continued to act racist around the home. He stated “if you do that I will do this…” while running to the kitchen to retrieve a knife. She then started recording on her phone and captured him trying to cut the dog’s throat.

I looked over at the couch and located Remling laying there. He was heavily intoxicated. He knew me from prior domestic incidents at their home. I asked him to stand up and place his hands behind his back. I placed him in hand-cuffs and arrested him for Cruelty to Animals. I escorted him to my Police vehicle.

I returned to give [WITNESS #1] a CRN and offer her Domestic Violence resources. She was also heavily intoxicated and stated she was in fear of her life with him. I continued to try and offer her resources and she grew upset with me and would not listen to what I had to say. I also tried to give her information on protection orders, yet she said there was nothing we could do and that she would be dead the next time we came to her home. I tried multiple times to help her with further information and SafeShelter but she was not cooperative and demanded I leave her home.
