On December 27th, 2025, at around 15:39 hours, I was dispatched to 5002 Paulsen St. #105 for a trespasser call at Kayak Kafe.
Upon arrival on scene, Officer R. Kemp and I made contact with the restaurant manager, who advised that a female subject was disturbing customers on the property. The manager [WITNESS #1] stated that the subject was bothering patrons seated outside and disrupting business operations by calling a female patron a “skank and a wh*re”. The Manager also told Karen Cooper to leave the property, or he would call the police, but she did not comply.
At that point, the Manager called the police, and Karen Cooper left the property. He requested that the subject be criminally trespassed and banned from the property. The manager [WITNESS #1] also provided access to the restaurant’s security camera footage, which I reviewed. The footage showed the female subject seated at an outside table and engaging in behavior consistent with disturbing other customers.
The manager stated that the subject had left the property before the officer’s arrival but had called law enforcement while still on scene. The subject was later identified as Karen Cooper.
Officer N. Brandmire canvassed the surrounding area and located Karen Cooper a short distance from the restaurant. Officer N. Brandmire detained her. I then asked that she be brought back to the location so I could take custody of her. She was arrested for criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.
I completed a criminal trespass/ban form and provided a copy to the manager [WITNESS #1], advising him of the process and documentation. Due to Karren Cooper’s disruptive behavior, I was unable to read the ban form to her.
Following the arrest, Officer R. Kemp and I transported Karen Cooper to the Chatham County Jail for booking. Upon arrival, Karen Cooper refused to comply with the jail’s medical intake screening conducted by medical staff. Due to her refusal, we had to transport Karen Cooper to Memorial Hospital for medical evaluation. Karen Cooper was medically evaluated and cleared by Memorial Hospital staff.
After medical clearance, Karen Cooper was transported back to the Chatham County Jail, where she was accepted and placed into custody without incident.
[End of Narrative]
