On 1/18/2026 at 0901 hours, I was dispatched to [100 BLOCK] Pampas Drive for a stolen vehicle. It was advised that a vehicle coming back to this address was involved in a chase earlier this morning, see CRN 260118002.
Contact was made with the complainant (Kayla Martinez) and she was holding Juvenile. Kayla advised that her childs father [WITNESS #1] dropped her off last night in her vehicle, as her license was suspended and taken from her. Kayla was pulled over out of town coming back from a wedding and her license was suspended and it was taken. [WITNESS #1] dropped her and the vehicle off, in the driveway, and then left.
Kayla stated that she went to sleep immediately after she arrived home. When Kayla woke up around 0800, she went to her vehicle to get baby supplies and her vehicle was not there. Kayla also advised that the keys may have been left in it. Kayla also advised that it was just her and Juvenile that were at the residence last night.
Kayla then advised that she started calling tow companies to see who had her vehicle. SAPP’s Wrecker Service was the last place she called and they advised that Pooler PD had a hold on it. Kayla then called 911 to report her vehicle stolen.
It was advised during shift change briefing that a vehicle matching Kayla’s cars description ran from an officer earlier in the night and was left in a different residential driveway within a neighboring neighborhood (Copper Village). Officer O’Grady advised that he witnessed a female that matched Kayla’s description, exit the vehicle and go through someone’s yard.
[WITNESS #1], the Juvenile’s father, came to get the Juvenile to take care of while Kalya was away per her request. DFCS was notified of the incident, as Kayla would not answer who was watching the Juvenile at the home while she was out running from the police earlier in the morning, and it was reported it was just her walking around.
[WITNESS #1] advised that yesterday (01/17/2026), Kayla got pulled over in Soperton and her vehicle was towed. He advised that Kayla was arrested for driving while her license was suspended but they did not take her to jail, they took her to the police department and fingerprinted her there.
[WITNESS #1] advised that he went to go get Kayla to pick up her vehicle from the tow yard and followed her, while she drove her own vehicle, knowing that her driver’s license is suspended, back to her residence around 1700 hours. He stated that the juvenile was left with Kayla last night after he dropped her off and no one else was at the residence.
Kayla was placed in handcuffs, checked for fit, double locked. Kayla was then read her Miranda Warning and did not wish to answer questions. She was then placed in the back of my patrol vehicle and buckled for safety. Kayla was then transported to the CCDC where she was turned over to staff without incident.
