On 09/15/2025, at approximately [Insert Time], I, Officer Brister, responded to a call at Montgomery Landing Apartments, [700 BLOCK] W 57th St, Apartment [REDACTED], regarding an unwanted person armed with a knife. Upon arrival, I made contact with the complainant, [WITNESS #1], the mother of [WITNESS #2]; [VICTIM #1]; Perry, Lafrena; and [WITNESS #3]. [WITNESS #1] advised that she no longer wanted her daughter, Lafrena Perry, on the property.

I spoke with [VICTIM #1], who stated that she and her sister, Lafrena Perry, were involved in a verbal argument in the common area of the apartment. According to [VICTIM #1], the argument escalated, and Lafrena, who was in the master bedroom, charged toward her in the hallway while holding a kitchen knife above her head with the blade facing downward. [VICTIM #1] demonstrated Lafrena’s actions by raising her right arm above her head with a balled fist, leaning slightly forward at the waist, and taking a few steps.

[VICTIM #1] reported that Lafrena stated, “You’re gonna die tonight,” while approaching her at a fast pace. [VICTIM #1] further stated that their mother, [WITNESS #1], intervened by blocking Lafrena’s path and disarming her of the knife after a brief struggle. No injuries were reported during the struggle. [VICTIM #1] expressed that she felt scared and believed Lafrena was “aiming at her heart” (center chest area). She identified her brother, [WITNESS #3], and mother, [WITNESS #1], as witnesses to the incident.

I interviewed [WITNESS #3], who corroborated [VICTIM #1]’s account. [WITNESS #3] stated he was standing at the end of the hallway where [VICTIM #1] was located when he observed Lafrena walking quickly toward [VICTIM #1] while holding a kitchen knife above her head. [WITNESS #3] demonstrated Lafrena’s actions in a manner consistent with [VICTIM #1]’s demonstration.

I spoke with [WITNESS #2], who was not present at the time of the incident. [WITNESS #2] stated that between 2330 and 2345 on 09/14/2025, she received a phone call from [VICTIM #1], who informed her that Lafrena had pulled a knife on her. [WITNESS #2] declined to provide additional details about the incident beyond confirming that [VICTIM #1] and Lafrena had an argument.

[VICTIM #1] further reported that after Lafrena was disarmed, she continued pacing back and forth in the hallway while cursing and yelling at [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated that she retreated to her bedroom, but Lafrena followed her, entered the room, and continued to yell and get in her face.

I detained Lafrena Perry on scene and read her Miranda rights. Lafrena stated that the argument began because [WITNESS #3] and [VICTIM #1] were going through her personal belongings, and some items, including a towel, were missing. Lafrena admitted to holding a kitchen knife while cutting an eggroll in the kitchen during the argument but claimed the knife was held down by her side. She acknowledged making a statement about killing [VICTIM #1] but claimed it was in response to [VICTIM #1] making a similar threat first. Lafrena denied charging at [VICTIM #1] with the knife raised above her head.

Lafrena Perry was placed in double-locked handcuffs, searched incident to arrest, and escorted to the rear of my marked police vehicle. I photographed two identical kitchen knives with wooden handles and silver blades found at the scene. Neither [VICTIM #1] nor [WITNESS #3] could identify which specific knife Lafrena had used. The knives were not collected into evidence, as multiple individuals had handled them during and after the incident.

Lafrena Perry was transported to the Chatham County Detention Center and charged with Aggravated Assault (OCGA) and Possession of a Knife During the Commission of a Felony (OCGA).
