On 12/31/25 around 1715 hours, I, Officer Buck, responded to [500 BLOCK] E 32nd St in reference to a generic law call with an open line.
Call notes advised the call taker could hear someone saying they would call the police and another subject saying “let him leave”.
When I arrived on scene, I located a female, identified as Kristan Redden, sitting on the front steps. I observed Ms Redden’s face was red and there were red marks on her neck. I asked Ms Redden what happened and she immediately advised he was gone. As she elaborated further, she stated she came home with a pack of cigarettes which upset her boyfriend/baby’s father, Mark Martin.
Mr Martin does not like Ms Redden to smoke since she is pregnant with their child. Ms Redden advised, when they were in the living room, Mr Martin grabbed her face and slapped her. His mother, [REDACTED], was in the room when this occurred and was able to get him to stop and told him to leave. Mr Martin then left the scene prior to police arrival, in his mother’s red Ford Edge (UNK tag). I asked Ms Redden if she would like EMS to come assess her but she declined.
While I was attaching all parties to the call, Ofc Merritt was speaking with Ms Redden. Ms Redden informed Ofc Merritt that she was not only slapped but she was also strangled by Mr Martin. Given this new information, Sgt Korte was notified and responded to the scene. Detectives were also notified.
Ms Redden originally stated their arguments had never gotten physical in the past, but as she opened up more, she stated Mr Martin had blackened her eye in the past but police were not called.
While conducting my investigation, I discovered Ms Redden had multiple warrants out of two different counties. I confirmed the warrants over records. They advised they were valid and would like to place holds. After the completion of my Domestic Strangulation investigation, Ms Redden was placed under arrest for the warrants. She was transported to Memorial Medical Center to be cleared, given the physical altercation. (View CRN 251231071 for more info on the warrant service)
Ms Redden’s injuries were photographed and uploaded to Evidence.com via Axon Capture.
