December 2nd, 2025, 1216 hours, I was dispatched to Quality Inn 7100 Abercorn Street in reference to a guest who needed to be removed.

I was advised at the front desk that the guest in room #[REDACTED] Meranda Hamilton has rented a room for 4 days total and has consistently paid her fees late. She smokes in her non-smoking room, and leaves her two boys, [JUVENILE #1] (9) and [JUVENILE #2] (3) alone in the room. The desk clerk advised that she did not want any further contact with Meranda, who had been calling the front desk all morning crying.

I made contact at the room with Meranda. She displayed a phone, telling me that she was on the phone with 911. I explained the reason for the contact. She began explaining her situation to me, repeating twice that “she understands because”. She said that she has been doing this by herself for the last 7 months. Meranda told me that she had been drinking and doesn’t usually drink. She told me that she still had a lot unpacked and that checkout time was 11:00 am and she had no one she could call.

I could ascertain by her responses and slurred speech that she was heavily intoxicated. I offered resources but Meranda refused my offer. She continued to repeat to me the circumstances of her situation and that she had been drinking and doesn’t usually drink. She also advised that she was beyond drunk but would elaborate. I advised Meranda to pack while I try to obtain a helpful resource. I tried to break away, and she repeated the phrase that she had been drinking and doesn’t usually drink.

Meranda looked at Ofc. Jackson Blumenfeld and asked him if he was a woman. I then repeated my request for her to pack her items. She walked back to Ofc. Blumenfeld asked to speak to him. She re-entered the room and did not pack. Meranda had a verbal exchange with Ofc. Blumenfeld. I advised my Sergeant that I feared because of her intoxicated state that she may not be able to care for her children once she vacates the room. Ofc. Blumenfeld inquired from the kids if they had a grandmother they could call and got no response.

I then called DFACS. While on the phone Meranda stated to her kids in view of Ofc. Blumenfeld that if anyone takes them from her to give them hell, and that she’ll kill them before anyone takes them. I informed the DFACS call taker, who advised me that a social worker would be enroute. Meranda came to the door and tried to close it on Ofc. Blumenfeld as she yelled curse words.

Meranda called a family friend [REDACTED]. [REDACTED] tried to calm her, but Meranda ended the call. Meranda then called [REDACTED], who is a cousin. A short time later, both [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] arrived. Meranda had taken off all her clothes and underwear, standing naked underneath a black robe. They demanded her to put on clothes. They reasoned to her, but Meranda was unreceptive to them. She continued to yell obscenities such as “she did not give a f*ck about going to jail”. Her boys were nearby in the room.

Meranda exited the room with [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] and made her way downstairs, yelling. I followed, advising her that she needed to wait for the social worker. Once we reached the ground floor Meranda shouted several times that “she didn’t give a f*ck about no f*cking DFACS, and she didn’t give a sh*t.” She shouted at her kids “that if we wanted to ask them any f*cking sh*t, to ask their f*cking momma, they can’t say sh*t”. She shouted that she “didn’t give a f*ck” loudly in the parking lot. Meranda’s family cautioned her family to calm down several times because she was making the situation worse and wasn’t listening to them. Meranda continued yelling over everyone who talked to her. Her voice at times was akin to a growl.

The social worker, [REDACTED], attempted to speak with Meranda. Meranda talked over her and refused to allow her boys to be placed with [REDACTED] until she sobers up. This request was made several times. Meranda refused each time. [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] grew frustrated with Meranda and walked back to their cars to drive away. [REDACTED] stayed while [REDACTED] left. [REDACTED] advised Meranda that she could smell the odor of alcoholic beverages on her person, as well as her being evicted from the property she was not in a state to care for the kids. Meranda advised that she started drinking alcohol at 0800 hours this morning.

Meranda asked to pee. I took her back to room #[REDACTED]. While walking Meranda stated that if her kids were not there when she returned, she would kill someone. The key the front desk provided me with did not work so I asked hotel staff if Meranda could use the restroom. They allowed her despite requesting she be banned permanently. [JUVENILE #1] later asked to pee. [REDACTED] told him to follow me to the same lobby restrooms where Meranda relieved herself. Meranda followed me. I did not object. I advised Meranda to wait at the front doors. She then told [JUVENILE #1] not to pee if she was not allowed inside.

I pleaded with her to allow [JUVENILE #1] to relieve himself. Meranda took him away. I advised her to allow [JUVENILE #1] to pee in the grass. Meranda physically handled her son, and he was not allowed to pee. [REDACTED] told Meranda not to take this matter personally. She told me “She didn’t give a f*ck” and that “she raised her kids by her f*cking self”. I warned her to watch her language. Once again Meranda stated that she didn’t give a f*ck. I walked over and gave verbal commands for Meranda to place her hands behind her back. She complied while loudly cursing.

Meranda was taken to the hospital before being transported to jail for Disorderly conduct, Public Drunkenness, and Cruelty to Children in the 3rd Degree. Meranda was also permanently banned. [JUVENILE #1] and [JUVENILE #2] were given consent by Meranda to be to be transported by [REDACTED] to [REDACTED]’s home.
