On 03/12/2026 at approximately 2033 hours, I (Ofc Blumenfeld) responded to Quality Inn Room [REDACTED] in reference to a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival, I made contact with the victim, who was staged in the lobby of the hotel. I then spoke to the victim, [VICTIM #1], who advised that her husband, Steven Cekavic, repeatedly beat her today and strangled her as well. I noticed visible redness on her face as well as marks next to her earlobes which indicated that hands were placed around her neck. She was not able to state how the assaults came to be and stated that there was no real reason behind it and that Mr. Cekavic was extremely intoxicated when the incidents took place. I then advised other officers who were at the room and who had made contact with Mr. Cekavic to place him under arrest for the time being.

Mr. Cekavic was arrested by other officers and while he was being arrested, he resisted officers and did not follow commands, which caused two obstruction charges to be added (officer supplementals were made for these charges). I then made contact with Mr. Cekavic and mirandized him, and he stated that he had no knowledge of what I was talking about and remained adamant that he did not hit his wife.

I contacted my on-duty supervisor who then requested that domestic violence detectives respond to the scene, and Detective Kasemeyer took over the investigation from this point on. Steven Cekavic was then charged with Aggravated Assault, Battery, False Imprisonment, and Obstruction (x2) and transported to Memorial Health and CCDC without incident.
