On Friday, November 07, 2025 at 11:58 hours, I responded to a retail theft in progress (shoplifter) at Enmarket located at 1264 US Highway 80, Pooler, Chatham County, Georgia, 31322.

SECONDARY OFFICER: Officer D. Reyes.

On this date, Officer Johnson and I responded to Enmarket at the intersection of Highway 80 and Old Louisville Road. Officers arrived at the convenience gas station and Officer Johnson made contact with the suspect (Terrence Lee Warner) in this case on the roadway, Old Louisville Road. Upon making contact with the suspect (Terrence), Officer Johnson got on the radio and asked me to stop a blue vehicle at the light on Old Louisville Road.

I pulled out of the parking lot and noticed the vehicle on Old Louisville Road, traveling southbound, waiting on the green traffic light. I made my way through traffic and got back on Highway 80 to initiate a traffic stop. It was at this point, I looked over to check on Officer Johnson, when I saw the suspect (Terrence) lunge towards Officer Johnson and engaged with punches to the upper torso. I observed Officer Johnson fall backwards and land on the edge of a concrete barrier.

The suspect (Terrence) then took flight on foot, running across an open field at the corner of the intersection. I drove through traffic and followed the suspect (Terrence) in my marked patrol vehicle. I attempted to stop the suspect (Terrence) and cut him off with my patrol vehicle. The suspect (Terrence) did not stop and ran around my patrol vehicle and continued running towards Highway 80.

I got out of my patrol vehicle and engaged in a foot pursuit. I got behind the suspect (Terrence) and gave clear commands to stop. The suspect (Terrence) did not comply with my command and continued running across Highway 80, toward the Parker’s Kitchen (1275 US Highway 80). The suspect (Terrence) jumped over a ditch near Parker’s, and I was able to catch up to him and tackle him to the ground. The suspect (Terrence) fell backwards and landed on the ground, all his and my weight landed on my right wrist, causing me to lose mobility from my right wrist.

The suspect (Terrence) continued to fight, by attempting to push me off and trying to pull away from me. It was at this point that I pulled my left hand under the suspect (Terrence) and reached over to my right wrist to lock my arms. I locked my arms and held the suspect (Terrence) down and waited for backup units to arrive. It was at this point that I heard Officer Johnson, and he attempted to assist with placing the suspect (Terrence) in handcuffs.

Officer Johnson, who at the time showed that he was in excruciating pain, attempted to assist me with placing the suspect’s hands behind his back. However, the suspect (Terrence) continued to resist by placing his arms under his stomach, locking and pulling his arms away.

I continued to give clear commands and asked the suspect (Terrence) to stop resisting. The suspect (Terrence) would have moments when he indicated verbally that he was going to comply with officers. However, when attempts were made to place his hands behind his back and apply handcuffs, he would pull his arms away and conceal them under his stomach.

After several attempts, Officer Johnson utilized his TASER and drive-stun the suspect (Terrence) on his right rib area. Direct contact was made and compliance was obtained. I brought the suspect’s arms back and placed the suspect (Terrence) in handcuffs. Officer Johnson continued to show signs that he was injured. I requested other units and EMS to the scene immediately.

I then asked the suspect (Terrence) if he was injured and communicated to him that I was going to roll him over and stand him up to check for injuries. Initially, the suspect (Terrence) complied, but he then switched and became combative by rolling over to his stomach and stiffing his body. At this point Officer Johnson was exhausted and in excruciating pain. My right hand was hurting, and I had no mobility in it, and I was exhausted.

Sergeant Zeigler and Corporal Witherington arrived on scene and provided aid to Officer Johnson, and they assisted with controlling the suspect (Terrence) who at this point was combative by kicking his legs, not allowing officers to roll him over and stand him up, and by twisting his body to pull away from officers.

EMS arrived on scene and checked my right wrist and noticed swelling on my wrist and forearm. I had no mobility on my right hand, and I had difficulties making a fist or closing my hand. Officer Johnson and I were treated and transported to Memorial Hospital for treatment.
