On 26OCT25 while working as a member of the SWAT QRF, wearing my department issused uniform clearly marked police. I was clearing city market after an order given by Savannah police command.
While telling people they needed to clear out of city market a subject at the corner of Whitaker and W congress became verbally non-complaint with commands to leave. The subject Tirese Pleas then became aggressive with me and started yelling and asking why I wasn’t telling other people to leave. I explained to him that I was dealing with him at the time and would tell other people to leave after he left.
Tirese was not happy with this response and became angry continuing to yell at me and took a fighting stance. Tirese squared up with me, bladed his feet, puffed his chest out, and began to lean towards me while yelling. Not knowing what Tirese’s intentions were and fearing that he might strike me due to his actions taken already with his fighting stance. I put my hands on Tirese chest to try and create distance between me and him to keep him at a safe distance away from me.
However, when I did this Tirese slapped my arm away and stepped back. He took up another fighting stance, blading his feet and balling his fist. Another officer and I then grabbed Tirese and put him against the wall. We tried to get his hands behind his back; however, it was unsuccessful due to him tensing his entire body and pulling against me. We chose to place him on the ground to gain more control. Once on the ground we were successful in placing hand cuffs on Tirese.
Once in handcuffs he was brought to a nearby patrol vehicle where he was processed, searched, and evaluated by EMS. After being cleared by EMS he was transported to CCDC by a patrol officer.
This concludes my portion of the investigation.
[End of Narrative]
