On the above date/time, I was employed by Savannah Police Department as a POST-certified Police Corporal and assigned to the Violent Crimes Task Force. I was wearing a Class C police uniform with my badge prominently displayed.
I responded to 301 W Congress St to assist Sergeant W. Johnson and Sergeant R. Mowers with three disorderly subjects – Branautica Reyes-Chang (alias: Branautica Frazier), Simon Treasure, and Branautica’s husband (name unknown). As I arrived, the subjects appeared to be leaving the area of the establishment after an altercation happened between them while they were inside.
The subject continued walking westbound down the middle of W. Congress St and were continually getting louder in volume with their yelling. As I watched, it appeared that Branautica and Treasure were ganging up on Branautica’s husband with their verbal altercation – and eventually both Branautica and Treasure both started attempting to hit Branautica’s husband in the head.
I ran down towards the subjects with other officers and attempted to place Branautica’s hands behind her back. Due to her rotund nature, Branautica toppled over as she walked and tripped onto the sidewalk. I handcuffed Branautica and other officers handcuffed Treasure.
Branautica’s husband did not speak any English.
Over the course of processing arrest paperwork for Branautica and Treasure, I learned that Branautica’s husband attempted to turn them into sister wives during the evening and they were not as eager for polygamy as he was. I explained to Branautica that, while that may be cause for a divorce, it was not justification for attempting to assault him in the street.
I transported Branautica and Treasure to Chatham County Detention Center under the charges of:
O.C.G.A. 16-11-39 – Disorderly Conduct
O.C.G.A. 16-11-41 – Public Drunkenness
[End of Narrative]
