On January 9th, 2023 at 1918 hours I was dispatched to the residence of [1500 BLOCK] Pendleton Street in reference to a fight. Upon my arrival my BWC was activated.
I spoke with Ms. [VICTIM #1]. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated she and her Step father Mr. Willet Williams had gotten into a verbal altercation that turned physical. Ms. [VICTIM #1] had just arrived at the residence and was walking upstairs to her bedroom when she was approached by Mr. Williams asking her about bottles of body wash belonging to her. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated Mr. Williams began to raise his voice at her in which she attempted to tell him he did not have to do so, but Mr. Williams continued yelling anyway.
Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated at this point her mother Ms. [WITNESS #1] stepped in between the two of them in an attempt to de-escalate the situation and Mr. Williams did not calm instead he lunged at her. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated she was not aware that she dialed 911 due to her phone updating and her being “worked up” the phone auto dialed 911 dispatch. Ms. [VICTIM #1] attempted to tell the dispatcher that she did not need police to respond. As Ms. [VICTIM #1] was attempting to communicate with the dispatcher Mr. Williams punched her in her face two times in counting. Ms. [VICTIM #1] could not recall with which hand of Mr. Williams’s made contact with her facial area but she believed it to be his left.
I then spoke with Ms. [WITNESS #1]. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated she had just arrived home and heard Mr. Williams and Ms. [VICTIM #1] arguing. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated she stepped in between the two and attempted to de-escalate the situation. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated she witnessed Mr. Williams lunge at Ms. [VICTIM #1] but did not witness or recall if he actually hit Ms. [VICTIM #1].
Speaking with Mr. Willet Williams he questioned Ms. [VICTIM #1] about a box of hygiene items she had located in her room underneath her bed. Ms. [VICTIM #1] began to raise her voice and started crying. Mr. Williams stated the two were standing approximately 6 feet apart. Ms. [VICTIM #1] put her phone up towards her ear and Mr. Williams stated he stepped towards her and attempted to knock the phone out of her hand as he was unsure why Ms. [VICTIM #1] was dialing 911 dispatch. Mr. Williams sated he accidentally hit Ms. [VICTIM #1] in the face but it was accidental.
I then spoke with Mr. [WITNESS #2] and Mr. [WITNESS #3]. Both parties stated they only approached from their bedrooms upstairs as they heard the situation escalating. Mr. [WITNESS #2] stated he did not see his father hit his sister. Mr. [WITNESS #3] stated he entered right as his father was attempting to knocked the phone away from his sister’s ear. Mr. [WITNESS #3] stated he did not witness his father hit his sister.
It shall be noted that due to the nature of the statements I requested dispatch via radio to edit the call to a domestic incident.
Mr. Willet Williams was detained and placed in the back of my marked patrol vehicle. I transported Mr. Williams to CCDC and booked him in accordance with O.C.G.A 16-5-23 Simple battery DVA and O.C.G.A 16-10-24.3 Interfering or hindering person placing call to 911 with no further incident.
