On October 17, 2025, at approximately 0203 hours, I responded to 3702 Ogeechee Road (Deluxe Inn) in reference to a report of a male and female physically fighting.

Upon arrival, officers and I conducted a search of the property to locate the involved parties but were initially unsuccessful. During the search, I was approached by a male subject, later identified as [VICTIM #1], who stated that he had been assaulted by a female identified as Yolanda Wilson.

[VICTIM #1] reported that he had allowed Wilson to stay with him in his room. He stated that while he was sitting in a chair, Wilson began experiencing what he described as a “mental episode” and physically attacked him without provocation. He further stated that following the assault, he exited the room and began recording the incident on his cell phone.

[VICTIM #1] provided a 24-minute video which I reviewed on scene. In the footage, [VICTIM #1] can be seen re-entering the room and turning the camera toward Wilson. Wilson then approaches [VICTIM #1] and appears to either strike the phone or make physical contact with him. [VICTIM #1] is seen retreating as Wilson follows. During this time, both parties can be heard arguing. I observed what appeared to be a visible injury on [VICTIM #1]’s right arm, which he attributed to Wilson, although he could not specify exactly when the injury occurred.

After obtaining [VICTIM #1]’s statement and reviewing the video, I made contact with Wilson. She informed me that she and [VICTIM #1] had been sharing the motel room for approximately one month, clarifying that they were friends and not in a romantic relationship. Wilson stated that during a conversation in the room, [VICTIM #1] asked her to obtain “dope” for him. When she refused, she claimed that [VICTIM #1] attacked her. However, she was unable to clearly articulate how the alleged attack occurred, only stating that she was “pushed” and that she believed [VICTIM #1] was holding a knife. I observed a minor injury to Wilson’s right hand.

In response to Wilson’s allegation, I notified my supervisor, who responded to the scene. Detectives were also notified of the incident.

While still on scene, Officer Houston informed me of another video showing additional footage of the incident. The video, approximately two minutes in length, shows [VICTIM #1] and Wilson in a verbal altercation. [VICTIM #1] is seen placing the phone down, positioning it to record, and then using a chair to attempt to push Wilson out of the room, placing the chair between them.

At that point, Wilson is seen reaching over the chair while holding a sharp object, which I perceived to be either a knife or scissors. Wilson then swings the object at [VICTIM #1], appearing to strike him in the arm. She is then seen following [VICTIM #1] off-screen while still holding the object. Shortly afterward, Wilson grabs a guitar and swings it in [VICTIM #1]’s direction. Review Body Worn Camera for more details on the incident.

Based on the video evidence and observed injuries, Wilson was placed in double-locked handcuffs and secured in the rear of my patrol vehicle. EMS responded to provide medical attention to both parties.

I transported Wilson to Memorial Hospital, where she was medically evaluated and cleared for transport.

While at the hospital, I read Wilson her Miranda Rights prior to conducting further questioning. Wilson agreed to speak with me without the presence of an attorney. She reiterated that [VICTIM #1] had asked her for “dope” and became aggressive when she refused. When asked if she defended herself or used a weapon during the incident, Wilson was evasive and did not provide a clear answer. When I specifically inquired whether she used a weapon against [VICTIM #1], Wilson declined to continue the interview to avoid self-incrimination. The interview was subsequently terminated.

Wilson was then transported to the Chatham County Detention Center, where she was booked without incident.

[VICTIM #1]’s injuries were documented and uploaded to evidence.com. Officer Cherubin also provided [VICTIM #1] with a community evidence upload link to submit his video footage. The interior of the motel room was photographed as part of the investigation. At the time of this report, the weapon used by Wilson has not been recovered.
