On Friday, February 20th, at or around the time of 0149 hours, I Deputy Reeves took a call for Deputy Reynolds, at the Chattooga Emergency Room, in reference to a assault. Upon My Arrival, I met with [VICTIM #1]. I observed [VICTIM #1]’s appearance, and his face, and body was covered in dry and wet blood. His eye was swollen shut, and had turned a deep shade of blue. [VICTIM #1] also suffered a laceration to his left ear, and also had several bruises on his back.

I then asked [VICTIM #1], what had happened to him, and he stated that a Branson Jackson subject, along with two other males, had come into his yard, and began beating him with their hands, and feet. I then asked [VICTIM #1] if he knew why they would just come up to him out of the blue, he said that the three males, and two other females were in the trailer that he rents them, and that they all had been partying, and that Branson and his girlfriend had been in a argument, and that he tried to yell at them to get them to stop. He went on to say that this made Branson angry, and thats when they got into said physical altercation.

I asked if either of the females attempted to break it up, and [VICTIM #1] stated that Bransons girlfriend, [WITNESS #1] tried but they continued on. [VICTIM #1] then stated that the males and females all left the property in a white Honda and he had to walk to his neighbor [WITNESS #2] to get to the hospital. I then asked [VICTIM #1] the address that this occured at and he advised it was [SINGLE DIGIT BLOCK] Ridge Road Trion GA. Myself, and Deputy Reynolds then told [VICTIM #1] that we were going to try and make contact with [WITNESS #1] and Branson.

Deputy Reynolds, and Myself had Trion PD, Officer Campbell meet us at the ER to follow us to Ridge, do to the knowledge of there being multiple aggressors, and Officer saftey being at risk. All Officers then relocated to [SINGLE DIGIT BLOCK] Ridge Road, The property owner did say that Mr. [VICTIM #1] lived in the bus to the left of her trailer.

Myself, and Officer Campbell then went to relocate to the bus, while Deputy Reynolds checked a residence at [200 BLOCK] Renee Road, that Branson possibly could have been at. During the relocating between adresses Deputy Reynolds advised Myself, and Officer Campbell that a white Honda had passed him at Renee Road, and was headed towards our location. The honda then slowly rolled passed me on Spring Creek Road, and I did see a total of 4 individuals in the vehicle.

During the passing of the honda at a very slow speed, I could see a white male in the back driver side passenger seat that ressembled Branson. I thought at the time the male matched the discription for [VICTIM #1] said he was a white male, with brown hair, with a black jacket. I also had look at a recent jail booking from the past that also matched the same description of the male.

I then turned around on the vehicle, turned on my emergency lights initiated a traffic stop, the vehicle then came to a stop at the 3900 block of Spring Creek Road. I made a driver side approach to the rear passenger, and noticed that the male ressembled the description of Branson. I then asked the male his name, and he confirmed that he was Branson Jackson. I then asked him to step out, and he was then detained.

I aksed Branson if he knew why he and his aquaintances were being stopped, and he stated that he had an idea. He then stated that if this was in reference to what happened earlier, he said “I hit him, but I didn’t stomp him or anything”.

I then read Branson Miranda warning, and began to explain our reasoning in stopping him. He stated that [VICTIM #1] had been messeging his sister inappropriate messges via facebook, and thats why he went to confront [VICTIM #1] about it. I then asked Branson who the other two males were, and he stated that they were identified as, Anthony Smith, and Devin Russell. I did observe Bransons right hand to be bruised, and swollen. He stated that they lived near his uncles house on Airport Road in Trion. I then placed Branson in the back of my marked patrol unit #7673.

Myself, and Deputy Reynolds then made our way back to the Chattooga ER, and the medical personnel stated that two of Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s vertebrae in his back were broken, and he would have to be admitted to Floyd main ER in Rome, GA for further treatment. Due to the evaluation from medical staff at Chattooga ER, and the extent of [VICTIM #1]’s injuries, Branson was charged with Aggravated Battery.
