On May 16th, 2026, at approximately 1828 hours, I responded to Summerville Police Department, 170 Cox Street, Summerville, Georgia 30747 in reference to a domestic issue.

Upon arrival, I spoke with [VICTIM #1] who advised me that her husband, Daniel Cook, started an argument with her while they were on their way home. Upon their arrival to the house Mr. Cook exited the vehicle while they were still arguing. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] stated that Mr. Cook proceeded to place his hands around her neck, so she hit him across the side of his face with her cup. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] then informed me that Mr. Cook began walking around the car towards the driver’s side where Mrs. [VICTIM #1] was sitting.

Mrs. [VICTIM #1] then closed her door so Mr. Cook could not get to her from the driver’s side. Mr. Cook then returned to the passenger side and began throwing objects at Mrs. [VICTIM #1] striking her in the shoulder causing bruising to her left shoulder. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] then informed me that Mr. Cook walked away from the vehicle and then returned to grab his belongings. Mr. Cook grabbed a baseball glove and hit Mrs. [VICTIM #1] across the side of her face with it. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] then stated she left her residence to get away from Mr. Cook and called Chattooga County E911.

Mrs. [VICTIM #1] stated that the altercation happened in the presence of two juveniles, [REDACTED] & [REDACTED]. She also showed me a video of the altercation where I observed Mr. Cook attempting to walk around to the driver’s side and Mrs. [VICTIM #1] closing her door. I was unable to witness any of the physical altercation taking place. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] had visible bruising on her left shoulder and red marks around her neck.

I then spoke to the juveniles away from Mrs. [VICTIM #1] who corroborated her statement.

Corporal Villagomez and I then went to [REDACTED] to speak with Mr. Cook. Mr. Cook denied the altercation happening. He stated that he and Mrs. [VICTIM #1] were arguing and Mrs. [VICTIM #1] hit him across the face with her cup. Mr. Cook did have a mark on his face.

Due to physical and testimonial evidence, I then placed Mr. Cook under arrest for O.C.G.A. 16-5-23.1 Battery – FVA and O.C.G.A. 16-5-70 Cruelty to Children in the Third Degree. He was then transported to the Chattooga County Jail with no further incident.

Handcuffs were double locked and checked for fit prior to transport.
Back seat check was conducted before and after transport.
Subject was seatbelted in patrol vehicle.
