On 6/6/2025 at approximately 12:36pm Summerville Police Officers received a radio dispatched call to the area of [200 BLOCK] Oak Street for a gunshot wound. Reporting Officer (Brian Ozment) left the Police Department to respond to the call. Det. Ty Hutchins and Captain Caine Railey were the first officers on the scene, followed shortly by myself, where we found a male, later identified as victim [VICTIM #1] laying in the roadway unresponsive with various bystanders attempting to render first aid through covering the gunshot wound and performing CPR. We determined that the shooter was no longer on the scene from bystanders and advised that the scene was safe for EMS to arrive and care for [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] was transported to Chattooga Co ER where he was later pronounced dead.
Our initial preliminary on-scene investigation revealed that “Dee” Price had shot [VICTIM #1] and that Price had left the scene in the black Jeep that was was known to drive. The Jeep was later located at Price’s mother’s residence at [400 BLOCK] Scoggins Street and via telephone conversations between Capt Railey and Price’s family it was determined that Price was going to turn himself in within 30 minutes. A short time later Price was found to be driving a white passenger car traveling northbound on Hwy 27 at Taylors Ridge. This vehicle was stopped by Georgia State Patrol Troopers and Price was taken into custody without incident.
The following charges are being filed against Price: Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
