On above date and time I Deputy A. Garmany #14 along with Cpl. Fielding #04, Deputy R. Reeves #17, Summerville City Officers Sgt. M. Pritchard #105, Officer J. Mitchell #113, Georgia State Patrol Cpl. Flowers #621, and Sgt. D. Shamblin #485 were dispatched to and responded to domestic in progress involving mother and son with a knife and firearm involved at above location.
While en route we were advised that the male suspect later identified as Joseph Wallin had fled the scene on foot possibly in the area of Fair Street. We arrived and checked the surrounding areas when I arrived on scene at the residence and spoke with the female Complainant/Victim [VICTIM #1] who stated that the Suspect was outside working on his truck and she advised that he came inside irrate about his truck and was using obscene language towards trying to provoke her into an argument.
The victim further stated that the two of them got into a verbal altercation and the suspect pulled out his pocket knife and started threating her with it and lunged at her with the open pocket knife. The Victim then stated the suspect told her “Since the knife won’t scare you enough I’ll go get a gun.” The female stated that was when he went to his grandmother’s room and retrieve a Tisas 1911 handgun and came back into the living room and pointed at her threating he was going to shoot her placing her in fear for her life that she pulled her own Glock 43 9mm and told him to put the firearm down at which time he did and went back outside to work on his truck some more.
The victim stated that she went outside to check on him and see if she could help him at which time the suspect got irrate again and grabbed her thumb with a pair of pliers and that was when the Victim stated she fought back in self defense by pushing him away to where he would release her thumb with the pliers and the suspect placed her into a choke hold strangling her to the point she could breathe at which time she showed me her neck and there was sufficient redness to her neck and she advised that her boyfriend had to break them up and that was when the suspect took off and she called 911.
While I was speaking with the victim the suspect returned to the residence and spoke with Deputy Reeves and Sgt. Pritchard and when Deputy Reeves walked over to speak with me and the victim the suspect took off again on foot at which time all Deputies, Officers, and Troopers that were on scene pursued after the suspect and Deputy Reeves was able to apprehend the suspect and place him under arrest and placed into the back of Cpl. Fielding’s Patrol Vehicle.
Cpl. Fielding transported the Suspect to Chattooga County Detention while gathered photos and document on BWC of the firearms and the witness statements.
[End of Narrative]
