On September 24, 2025, at or around 19:18 hours, I, Deputy Reynolds, along with SO08 Whitworth and SO14 Garmany were dispatched to [200 BLOCK] Penn Street Trion, Georgia, 30753, for a physical domestic in progress. We arrived on scene at 19:20 hours and activated our BWC’s, Deputy Garmany spoke with Joshua Ashworth and his mother Mary Lowe while Deputy Whitworth and I went inside the residence to speak with Kaitlyn Carrington, who is Mr. Ashworth’s girlfriend. While speaking to Ms. Carrington I observed her in a highly agitated state.

Ms. Carrington stated that she had been in a physical altercation with Ms. Lowe, who is her boyfriend’s mother and her boyfriend had threatened her. Ms. Lowe had pulled her hair and her lip was busted. I did observe Ms. Carrington appear to have a slight swelling on her upper lip. I asked to see video of the event since she had mentioned there was a recording. She was able to pull up a video from the home security camera.

The video showed Ms. Carrington and Mr. Ashworth arguing while walking out of the residence onto the car port. Then Kelby Slayton came into the car port to pick up his juvenile son and remove him from the residence. Mr. Slayton and Ms. Lowe became involved in the already ensuing argument. Mr. Ashworth then unsheathed a fixed blade-hunting knife with his left hand and advanced upon Mr. Slayton, Ms. Carrington, and Ms. Lowe after Mr. Slayton stated something to Ms. Lowe.

Mr. Slayton was turned away and heading into the door of the residence, Ms. Carrington was near the doorway facing Ms. Lowe still arguing. Ms. Lowe had her back turned toward Mr. Ashworth and was between him and the other two subjects. Mr. Ashworth stated: “I am going to kill you.”, raised the knife that was in his left hand, swung it in a downward motion and hit what appeared to be a shoe rack that was beside the door.

After Deputy Whitworth and I watched the video, we handed Ms. Carrington’s cell phone back to her, we then proceeded out on to the car port where I placed Mr. Ashworth under arrest for Aggravated Assault FVA, Terroristic Threats and Acts and Possession of a Knife During the Commission of Certain Crimes.

Deputy Garmany escorted Mr. Ashworth to my patrol vehicle while I retrieved the knife to be placed into evidence. I retrieved my cell phone from my patrol vehicle so that I could record the video for evidence. Upon returning inside the residence, Deputy Garmany was asking Ms. Carrington about the physical altercation between Ms. Lowe and herself and if there was video of that incident as well. Ms. Carrington stated that there was but then she became agitated and continued to state that Ms. Lowe pulled her hair first.

Deputy Whitworth spoke with Ms. Lowe about the altercation that happened between her and Ms. Carrington, and she stated that Ms. Carrington pulled her hair first.

Both females were placed under arrest for Simple Battery due to not having a primary aggressor in the altercation and as we were escorting them to our patrol vehicles, Mr. Slayton who had left prior to our arrival came over and began yelling profanities in the middle of Penn Street at Mr. Ashworth who was in the backseat of my patrol vehicle.

I then advised Mr. Slayton to return to his residence ([200 BLOCK] Penn Street) and he continued screaming profanities at Mr. Ashworth. Deputy Garmany then advised Mr. Slayton again to leave the scene and return to his residence, which he also ignored. Mr. Slayton was then placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct.

All Subjects were transported to the Chattooga County Jail without incident. Due to the arrest of Ms. Carrington and Ms. Lowe I was unable to retrieve a recording of the security video. However, my BWC should have captured a good video of the recording and its audio while I was holding Ms. Carrington’s phone and watching the video prior to the arrest of Mr. Ashworth.
