On Saturday, May 2, 2026, at approximately 22:25, I was sitting stationary at the Dollar General on Commerce Street running radar when I observed a small gray SUV traveling north on Commerce Street at a high rate of speed with no taillights. According to the radar, the vehicle was traveling at 71 mph in a 35 mph zone. I pulled out into the roadway and activated my emergency lights and siren, attempting to catch up to the vehicle. The vehicle pulled into the Circle K on Commerce Street and parked next to a gas pump.
The driver, later identified as Karen Wiseman, exited the vehicle and approached my patrol unit, screaming at me to arrest her. I immediately called for Officer Pledger to meet with me at this location and then exited my vehicle. I asked Ms. Wiseman if she had a driver’s license, and she advised me that she didn’t have it on her. Ms. Wiseman continued to be agitated and loud. Officer Pledger instructed Ms. Wiseman to keep her hands on the hood of my patrol unit. Ms. Wiseman failed to do so. She stated that she was hot and then proceeded to take off her shirt and sweater, exposing her upper torso area, which was only covered by lingerie. The incident was witnessed by several bystanders, including some juveniles. At this point, Ms. Wiseman was arrested and placed in the back seat of my patrol unit.
Ms. Wiseman’s vehicle was towed from the seen be Luallen’s Towing. She stated that she did not have a preference, and Luallen’s Towing was the next on the list.
Ms. Wiseman was transported to the Chattooga County Jail without further incident and was cited for traffic violations for Speeding, Expired Registration, and operating a vehicle without taillights. She was also issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct under city ordinance.
