On 07/02/2026 at approximately 2213 hours, City units were dispatched to the listed location in reference to a physical altercation between two male subjects. I was already in the area due to an event and notified E911 that I would attempt to locate the involved parties.
Upon arriving at the scene, I observed a male subject—later identified as TED STANCIL Jr.—speaking with Sheriff Deputy Dawson and providing his account of the incident. STANCIL stated that the altercation stemmed from a money dispute and that the other male subject had been “Talking sh*t,” which led him to strike the other male subject.
I then made contact with the second involved party, identified as [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated that he had recently contacted his children’s mother, who is in a relationship with STANCIL, seeking assistance with caring for the children while he was hospitalized for medical issues. According to [VICTIM #1], STANCIL used his own money to help secure a hotel room for the children, which corroborated STANCIL’s earlier statement.
[VICTIM #1] advised that STANCIL later located him at the event and confronted him about repayment. When [VICTIM #1] told STANCIL he did not owe any money back, STANCIL became upset and struck him on the left side of his face, leaving a visible red mark on his left cheek. The injury was photographed and added to this report.
[VICTIM #1] further stated that the incident occurred in front of his two juvenile children, both of whom confirmed witnessing the altercation. Another male, identified as [WITNESS #1], reported hearing STANCIL make threats toward both him and [VICTIM #1], stating that STANCIL said he would “beat them both up.”
The details of the incident were again confirmed by STANCIL, who admitted to striking [VICTIM #1] due to the unresolved money issue. This statement was also provided to other officers on scene.
Due to the nature of the incident and the presence of juveniles, TED STANCIL Jr. was placed under arrest for Battery and Cruelty to Children in the 3rd Degree. STANCIL was transported to the Chattooga County Jail without further incident.
