On Friday, July 1st, 2022, I responded to [900 BLOCK] Ellan Way, apartment [REDACTED], for possible property damage and a welfare check on a female roommate, Ariel Nossov. I arrived on the scene and met with the caller, Kris Geib, and Adria Glasgow. Kris and Adria are primary on the lease and rent the additional room to Ariel. I asked Kris to explain what happened and he stated the following:

Ariel had been staying at the apartment for approximately 4 months. Kris stated the first two months, Ariel had been cleaning up after herself and helping with several things around the apartment. Over the last two months, Ariel has kept her door closed to her room more often, she rarely leaves and does not clean up after herself. Kris and Adria are both recovering addicts and stated that behavior tells them she may have relapsed.

Kris stated he asked to go into Ariel’s room last Sunday 6/26/2022 for toys that belonged to his kid. Once he was inside the room, he noticed several drug-related items, small amounts of drugs, garbage, and human feces on the floor. Kris stated they signed a roommate agreement form stating Ariel would keep the room clean and several other rules. When he noticed the condition of the room he stated his fear was the apartment complex would charge him for the damages and he would not receive his deposit back. He took several pictures of the conditions of the room for documentation.

I asked Kris and Adria what they wished for me to do in regards to the room. They both stated they did not want to pursue any charges against Ariel if there were any but wanted me to speak with her and make sure she was living in healthy conditions. They welcomed me into the apartment and showed me the room where Ariel was staying. I knocked on the door and announced my name and Sheriff’s office, Ariel answered the door immediately.

Once she opened the door, I noticed several syringes on the floor, in her bed, and on the bedside table. I also noticed several blue and white small baggies with a white powdery substance along with several dirty spoons. I know spoons are often used to inject or cook illegal narcotics. After noticing several drug-related items, I asked to speak with Ariel outside of her room and in the kitchen. Ariel followed me to the living room without further incident.

Once in the living room, I read Ariel her Miranda Warning and asked if she was willing to speak with me about what I saw in plain view, she stated, yes. Ariel immediately became very emotional. I asked Ariel what her drug of choice was and she stated, Heroin, Fentanyl, and Cocaine. I asked when the last time she used any illegal drugs and she stated last night. Ariel began speaking about how the last nine months she has relapsed and began using drugs heavily. She wished to get clean but stated it is very hard when both of her roommates also are using drugs.

I am very familiar with both of her roommates as I’ve responded to several overdose calls at this address. I asked Ariel how she supported her drug addiction, she stated her grandparents were sending her approximately 500 dollars a week on top of paying Kris and Adria 700 dollars per month for rent. Based on what I saw in plain view, I asked Ariel if she wished to speak with a narcotics agent, and she stated, yes. Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics members responded to the scene and interviewed Ariel.

Based on the amount of narcotics inside the home, Ariel stated Adria just drove them to a house in Decatur to pick up Heroin and Fentanyl, passed responding calls, Corporal Creeden applied for a search warrant of the location. See Corporal Creeden’s supplemental for further information.

After Corporal Creeden returned to the apartment with a signed search warrant, he and I began searching the apartment. We started inside the bedroom of Kris and Adria and began searching for illegal narcotics. While I was searching inside the bathroom, I opened a medicine cabinet and noticed a small blue bag with white powder inside. Suspected Fentanyl. Pictures were taken of the suspected illegal narcotics. See Corporal Creeden’s supplemental for further narcotics he found.

While searching the closet belonging to Kris and Adria, I found a black safe. The safe was locked and we asked Kris if he was willing to unlock the safe, and he agreed to unlock it. Clothes belonging to Kris and Adria were laying on top of the safe as well as hanging in the closet. After the safe was open, we noticed a small pink makeup bag in the front of the safe. Ariel stated before we began searching the apartment, all the illegal narcotics belonging to Kris and Adria would be in a pink makeup bag.

I opened the bag and noticed several new and used syringes. Some of the syringes in the bag did have suspected Fentanyl inside. Also found inside the pink makeup bag were several suspected Xanax bars along with several used baggies with suspected Fentanyl inside. Pictures were taken for documentation. After completion of searching the apartment, each party, Kris and Adria were taken into the apartment separately and interviewed about the illegal narcotics that were found inside the bedroom that belonged to them.

I brought Adria inside the apartment first and read her Miranda. After reading her Miranda, I asked if she wished to speak with me about what was found. Adria never answered yes or no but stated several times, how much trouble was she in, she wanted her kid back, could she speak with Kris first, and advised several times to myself and Corporal Creeden her father was a lawyer. After refusing to speak with me, I spoke with Kris next. I read Kris Miranda and asked if he wished to speak with me, Kris stated, no.

Based on neither Kris nor Adria taking sole possession of the drugs found in their room, I placed both parties under arrest for Possession of Fentanyl, Possession of Drug Related Objects, and Possession of Xanax. I placed them both in handcuffs, checking for proper fit and double locking them. Ariel was arrested for Possession of Fentanyl and Drug Related Objects. Corporal Creeden transported both Kris and Adria to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.

Due to Ariel having a severe infection on her right arm because of Fentanyl injections, I transported her to Northside Cherokee Hospital for further medical treatment. Ariel was later admitted to the hospital for further evaluation due to medical concerns in her arm. Warrants for all parties will be taken in a timely manner. Pictures taken during the search warrant will be submitted to the case file. I returned to service.
