On Sunday, February 22, 2026, I responded to a hit-and-run call at Cancun Mexican Restaurant and Grill (4451 Towne Lake Pkwy #200, Woodstock, GA 30189).

Upon my arrival, I met with [VICTIM #1]. He began explaining that he was waiting in his vehicle, which was parked in the parking lot, for his mobile order from the Mexican restaurant. He felt his car move.

When [VICTIM #1] got out of his vehicle, he saw that the white pick-up truck (Tag: [REDACTED]) that was parked next to him had backed up. [VICTIM #1] states that the driver (later identified as Jeremy Haas), described as a white male with a gray hat, appeared to be aged 50-60. The suspect driver started screaming at [VICTIM #1] to give him his information. The suspect driver then drove off.

[VICTIM #1] stated that his driver’s side mirror had been hit, and I saw that it was moved and scratched. I ran the truck’s tag number. The tag returned to a white 2019 Dodge Ram registered to Jeremy Haas with the address of, [600 BLOCK] Wedgewood Dr, Woodstock, GA 30189. [VICTIM #1] was given a case number and informed on how to obtain a copy of the report.

I then drove to [600 BLOCK] Wedgewood Dr, Woodstock, GA 30189. While driving to this address, I received a hit confirmation from the Real Time Intelligence Center, from my shift supervisor, of a truck matching the description [VICTIM #1] gave, leaving the crime scene.

Upon my arrival, I noticed a truck matching the description [VICTIM #1] provided as well as it matching the license plate parked in the driveway. I walked up to the door and knocked several times. While I was knocking, I noticed that someone was lying on the couch as their front door had a clear glass panel that allowed plain view into the home. During that time frame, Deputy Sedowicz arrived on scene as backup.

While knocking on the door, I could hear a female voice in the home, indicating that someone else was in the home. A male voice from inside the residence said to come in. I replied to him the door was locked. A short time later, a middle-aged male walked up, opened the door, and allowed deputies to enter the residence.

Upon entering the home, I explained why I was here to the male. He identified himself as Jeremy Haas. I explained that a truck matching his tags and description was involved in a hit and-run a few minutes ago.

I asked Jeremy if he had driven his truck recently. Jeremy stated that he had not used it all day. I asked Jeremy if anyone else had driven or had access to his truck today, to which Jeremy answered with a no. While speaking to Jeremy, a younger female was screaming. I asked Deputy Sedowicz to remove her from the scene, which he did.

I continued to speak with Jeremy and asked if he had been involved in a hit-and-run, to which Jeremy said that he was, but it was over two months ago. I asked him to explain what occurred in that hit-and-run, to which he replied by saying he attempted to give the other driver his information, but was unable to, as the other driver kept yelling at him.

I walked over to Deputy Sedowicz, and he explained that the female and a younger male who followed them were Jeremy’s children. They told Deputy Sedowicz that Jeremy had been gone all day and had recently returned home about 30 minutes ago. They also said that when they attempted to go and open the front door, Jeremy told them not to do it.

I returned to Jeremy and asked him again if he was going to stick with his original statement, to which he stated that he was. I then told Jeremy that his children were telling a different story, and we also had video evidence of his truck leaving the crime scene.

Jeremy then began to state that he only clipped the other vehicle’s driver’s side mirror and that he was going to attempt to give his information to the other driver, but that the other driver was yelling at him, so he left. I explained to Jeremy that even if the other driver was yelling, he still needed to provide his information. Failing to do so is considered a hit-and-run.

I took control of Mr. Hass and placed him in handcuffs. He was handcuffed behind his back, with the handcuffs double locked and checked for proper fit. I did read Jeremy his Miranda warning after arrest. He was searched incident to arrest; while conducting my search, I located a set of car keys in the front pocket of his jacket. I later confirmed that those keys belonged to the white pickup truck.

I then placed Mr. Haas in the back of my patrol car, which was searched prior to the shift starting. He was then transported to the Adult Detention Center, where he was turned over to jail staff. Mr. Haas was given a citation for the Hit-and-Run.

All photos regarding the hit-and-run from both vehicles will be uploaded to the case folder.

Mr. Jeremy Haas is being charged with the following charges:

40-6-270 – Hit and Run: For leaving the scene of an accident, without providing the other driver any form of identification or confirmation of return to the scene of the accident.
