On 12/02/2025, at approximately 05:02am, I responded to Northside Cherokee Hospital in reference to an assault. The caller, John Jordan, told dispatch that he’d left the hospital on foot, and a gray Toyota pulled up next to him. John said someone got out of the car and assaulted him.
When I arrived at the hospital, I met John in the lobby of the ER. John told me that he was discharged from the hospital, and he left on foot. John said he was near the entrance of the hospital (near Northside Cherokee Blvd), and a gray Toyota pulled up next to him. He said a Hispanic male wearing khaki pants, a blue and red jersey, and white Nike shoes got out of the driver seat and approached him.
John said the male said something along the lines of, “You better not mess with [REDACTED].” Then, according to John, the male punched him in the chest and across the right side of his face. John said there was a Hispanic male in the passenger seat of the car, but the passenger never got out of the car. John told us that the car exited the hospital and took a left turned north onto Northside Cherokee Blvd. John said returned to the emergency room and called 911. I didn’t observe any visible bodily harm to John.
I asked him why he didn’t report the assault to hospital security or the deputy working at the hospital, and he told me that the security office was locked. I asked John if he had anything to drink or done any drugs. John said no. I also asked him if he got the license plate for the car, and he said no. I asked John what time the assault happened, and he told me it was around 04:30am. We were dispatched at 05:02am.
I then went to the security office and reviewed camera footage with Sgt Rogers. In the footage, John is seen leaving the ER at approximately 04:02am. From the cameras, we watched John leave the ER and walk into the adjacent building. At approximately 04:04am, John entered the building, took off his shoes, and laid on a couch under a blanket.
After a couple of minutes, John momentarily went outside, but he remained within the camera footage. John then returned to the couch until he was confronted by security around 04:30am. Security told John that he couldn’t sleep on the couch, and they watched him return to the ER lobby. At no point, during my review of camera footage, did I observe John get punched. Furthermore, I never observed a vehicle approach him.
When I returned to John, I confronted him about inconsistencies between his time line and the camera footage. At that point, John told me that he went into the adjacent building after he’d been assaulted near the entrance at Northside Cherokee Blvd. However, the camera footage showed John walking directly from the ER into the adjacent building.
I asked John about his interaction with security in the adjacent building, and I specifically asked him why he didn’t report the assault to them at that time. John said he was dazed from the assault and told security that he was stuck at the hospital. I asked John, on multiple occasions, if he was being truthful about the assault. Every time, John told me that he was being truthful and reaffirmed me that he wasn’t making it up.
However, based on John’s inconsistent time line, the camera footage, and the testimony from Northside security, I placed John under arrest for False Report of a Crime. I placed him in handcuffs behind his back, checked for fit, and double locked the handcuffs. I searched him incident to arrest but found nothing of note. Officer Medranda arrived on scene shortly after and transported John to the Cherokee County Jail.
