On 02/15/25 at approximately 1640 hours I responded to a hit and run at Highway 92 and Woodstock Rd. When I arrived on scene I met with the caller [VICTIM #1].
[VICTIM #1] stated that both vehicles were west bound on Highway 92. [VICTIM #1] was in the right lane and a white pickup truck (GA/[REDACTED]) was in the left. Both of them attempted to merge at the same time and made contact with each other. [VICTIM #1] pulled into the CVS at the intersection but the truck turned right onto Woodstock Rd and did not stop. There was light damage on the rear right side on [VICTIM #1]s BMW (GA/[REDACTED]). Photos will be uploaded via Axon.
While attempting to contact the registered owner of the pickup I called [WITNESS #1]. [WITNESS #1] stated it was his fathers truck but he was not driving it. [WITNESS #1] stated a mechanic who worked for him was currently driving, Johnathan Nelson. [WITNESS #1] provided a phone number for Johnathan.
I spoke to Johnathan over the phone and he stated the following: Johnathan was unaware he struck another vehicle and there was no damage to the pickup. Johnathan agreed to return to the CVS.
Sgt. Fulenwider was able to locate Johnathan at New Hope Rd and Glade Rd in Bartow County. Sgt. Fulenwider stopped Johnathan and took him into custody. When I arrived on scene I took custody of Johnathan and placed him in the back seat of my patrol car, which had been searched prior and I found no contraband. Johnathan was transported to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center, where jail staff took custody of him without issue. Johnathan was charged with Hit and Run. Photos of the Ford will be uploaded via Axon.
