[Please note: The following is a direct transcription from the officer’s narrative report. We do not fix any spelling or grammatical errors. Any changes made by our staff are placed inside brackets. Some errors may exist.]

I was dispatched to Lossie Lane/Kasey Drive at approximately 2110 hours on 09/09/2022 in reference to domestic dispute. Upon my arrival on scene, I spoke to [VICTIM #1] and tried to communicate with her. However, [VICTIM #1] only spoke a little English and I requested a Spanish speaking officer to the scene. After a short wait, Officer Buckner arrived and spoke to [VICTIM #1] about what happened prior to officers’ arrival.

[VICTIM #1] told Officer Buckner, her daughter ARROYO-ISLAS, Kaylyn (Kaylyn) got upset after [VICTIM #1] confronted Kaylyn about an incident that occurred while she was at school (Kaylyn was arrested for possession of Marijuana). [VICTIM #1] said Kaylyn got upset and went out to her car (black Nissan Sentra) and attempted to leave. [VICTIM #1] then called police to responded and prevent Kaylyn from leaving in the Nissan Sentra.

Kaylyn told Officer Mutasa, she got upset and pushed [VICTIM #1] (no visible marks) and went out to the Nissan Sentra. Once outside [VICTIM #1] prevented Kaylyn from leaving by standing behind her car. No simple battery charges were taken on Kaylyn due to a lack of evidence and conflicting information.

When Officer Mutasa arrived, he could smell the odor commonly associated with Marijuana coming from the Sentra. It was also determined the Sentra was registered to [VICTIM #1], but Kaylyn uses it for a daily driver. Officers then conducted a probable cause search and located, a grinder (used for Marijuana) and a small amount of Marijuana in the back seat of Kaylyn’s vehicle.

I then placed Kaylyn under arrest for Possession of Marijuana (misdemeanor) and drug related objects. Kaylyn was placed in properly fitted and double locked handcuffs. Kaylyn was then escorted to my patrol vehicle (1715) and searched incident to arrest (Infront of my dash camera) and placed in the back seat of my patrol vehicle. Kaylyn was then transported to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center (ADC) and turned over to ADC staff without incident.
