[NARRATIVE #1 on October 28, 2025]
On 10/28/2025 I was dispatched to a business domestic dispute at 3098 Eagle Drive the Chase Bank. Caller was third party who was not on scene but stated an elderly male was with a former roofing company employee who was trying to get him to sign over an insurance check.
I arrived on scene and met with the branch manager [WITNESS #1]. [WITNESS #1] said the male sitting in the lobby, later identified as Matthew McGee, came into the bank with an elderly gentleman, [VICTIM #1], and was attempting to get [VICTIM #1] to sign over a $20,000.00 insurance check which was for roofing work done by the company Modern Roofing. [WITNESS #1] said she spoke to Modern Roofing and was told Matthew is no longer employed with the company.
I went to speak to Matthew. He said he had completed the roofing work and was bringing [VICTIM #1] to the bank to get the check signed over, which he was then going to take to Modern Roofing because they still owed him about $9,000.00. While speaking to Matthew, [WITNESS #1] came over with [VICTIM #1]’s daughter, [REDACTED]. They informed Matthew they had spoken to Modern Roofing, and they said he was no longer employed and has been fully paid for any remaining work he has done.
Matthew then began to say he is a 1099 employee and [VICTIM #1] has a contract with him, and he can put a lien against the home to get his payment. I asked Matthew how he would do that for a company he no longer works for, and he stated the contract is with him not Modern Roofing. I got the contact number for Modern Roofing and tried to call them to see if they had any information about Matthew’s current state of employment, but I was unable to reach them.
[VICTIM #1] was in the break room waiting so when back up arrived I went to speak with him. [VICTIM #1] said he came up with Matthew to try to sign over the check, but the bank would not allow it. [VICTIM #1] said he was told since the check had his name and Chase bank, he would need to get it changed because Chase Bank was not comfortable signing the check over to Matthew. [VICTIM #1] said they then went to Wells Fargo, but they could not help them, so they went to State Farm who generated the check in the first place.
When they arrived, they spoke to [WITNESS #2], who was the caller for this incident. [VICTIM #1] mentioned while he was in the office with [WITNESS #1], she was going over the paperwork she had for [VICTIM #1] which had all his banking information, mortgage information, and the check from the insurance company. [VICTIM #1] said while he was looking over it, Matthew walked in and snatched the packet from his hands and walked out of the building. [VICTIM #1] said he did not think that was right for Matthew to do.
I called [WITNESS #2] to see what he knew about the incident. [WITNESS #2] said while Matthew and [VICTIM #1] were there it seemed that Matthew was pressuring [VICTIM #1] to get the check changed so he found it suspicious. [WITNESS #2] said he checked with Modern Roofing, and he found out Matthew was no longer employed with the company. Matthew then began to be very disrespectful, so he was asked to leave. That’s when [WITNESS #2] called the sheriff’s office to report the incident.
While on the phone with [WITNESS #2], D/S C. Williams spoke with [WITNESS #3] from Modern Roofing who confirmed Matthew was fired on October 17th, and the contract is with [VICTIM #1] and Modern Roofing not with Matthew. [WITNESS #3] also said if Matthew gets the money, [VICTIM #1] will still owe for the remainder of the roof. See D/S C. Williams supplemental report. [WITNESS #2] said they have voided the check already so it cannot be cashed and will be sending [VICTIM #1] another check for his roof work.
I spoke to [WITNESS #1] who was with [VICTIM #1] when Matthew snatched the packet of paperwork. She said Matthew took it and exited the building and thought he went to his truck. [WITNESS #1] said Matthew was outside for maybe about 15 minutes. She does not know if he tried to cash the check through mobile deposit or was taking pictures of the personal info on the paperwork, either way nothing in the packet belonged to Matthew and he had no business taking it. I asked [WITNESS #1] if they have access to the cameras and I was given a number to call their security company. Once contact is made, I will get the videos to upload to this report.
I went back and spoke to [VICTIM #1] about the snatching of the paperwork. It was explained to [VICTIM #1] that the act of Matthew taking items that belong to him was a crime and I asked if he would like to pursue charges. After thinking about it for a while [VICTIM #1] said he would like to press charges. D/S Sedowicz arrived on scene and placed Matthew in handcuffs. D/S C. Williams gave [VICTIM #1] and [WITNESS #1] a case card for this report.
Matthew’s truck was still in the parking lot, and he stated to leave the keys under the mat inside and he has someone coming to pick it up. D/S C. Williams checked with the bank, and they were ok with Matthew leaving his truck until it can be picked up. D/S Sedowicz transported Matthew to the ADC, and I went back in service.
Warrants will be taken for Matthew in a timely manner. An APS referral will also be done for [VICTIM #1].

[NARRATIVE #2 on October 28, 2025]
On October 28, 2025, Deputy R. Williams requested backup on his business domestic dispute at Chase Bank, 3098 Eagle Dr.
I arrived on scene and made contact with Deputy R. Williams, who was speaking with the victim, [VICTIM #1], a 91-year-old male, and his daughter, [REDACTED]. [VICTIM #1] was finishing up providing Deputy R. Williams with his statement. I did hear [VICTIM #1] explain that something was snatched from him. Deputy R. Williams and I went outside the room, and Deputy R. Williams provided me with a summary of what he had learned.
Deputy R. Williams stated that the other male in the lobby, Matthew McGee, was a subcontractor for Modern Roofing. [VICTIM #1] signed a contract with Modern Roofing for a new roof, and State Farm sent [VICTIM #1] a check for the work. Matthew drove [VICTIM #1] to the Chase Bank, where Matthew demanded that [VICTIM #1] sign the check over to him. Matthew stated he would provide the money to Modern Roofing. Deputy R. Williams added that State Farm called 911, as they have stated Matthew was fired from Modern Roofing and isn’t entitled to the money.
I began calling Modern Roofing, so I could verify Matthew’s employment status and see if he was tasked to obtain the payment. I finally received a call back from [WITNESS #3], who works for Modern Roofing. I explained to [WITNESS #3] the situation going on with Matthew and [VICTIM #1]. [WITNESS #3] stated Matthew was a 1099 employee and he was let go on October 17th. [WITNESS #3] added that the contract for the roof was between Modern Roofing and [VICTIM #1], and Matthew has no right to the payment from [VICTIM #1]. She stated that if Matthew were to get the check, [VICTIM #1] would still owe the contracted amount that was agreed upon.
I spoke with Deputy R. Williams and informed him of the information I obtained. We returned to [VICTIM #1] and asked him about Matthew snatching something from him. [VICTIM #1] stated he was holding the check, and Matthew came into the room, took it from him, and went to the car. We asked [VICTIM #1] how the check made its way back into the bank, and he said he did not know.
Deputy R. Williams and I went to speak with the branch manager, [WITNESS #1]. [WITNESS #1] stated [VICTIM #1] was in her office, and she handed [VICTIM #1] a Chase folder with his personal information inside, including information for his mortgage. He was also holding the State Farm check. [WITNESS #1] stated that Matthew came inside her office and snatched both the folder and the check from [VICTIM #1]’s hands, exited the bank, and went to his truck. She said he was gone for about 15 minutes and finally came back inside with the folder and the check. [WITNESS #1] added that the folder contained [VICTIM #1]’s personal information, and Matthew could’ve taken pictures of it.
We explained to [REDACTED] that we had found Matthew had committed a crime and asked if she would speak with [VICTIM #1] to see if he wished to press charges against Matthew. Deputy R. Williams, [REDACTED], and I went to speak with [VICTIM #1]. We explained to [VICTIM #1] what information we gathered, and the crime that we found was committed. [VICTIM #1] was asked if he wished to press charges against Matthew. He stated he did.
I asked [REDACTED] if I could see the check, so I could photograph it. The picture of the front and back of the check will be placed into the case folder.

On December 8, 2025, I was assigned case number SO25-015218 in reference to exploitation of an elder. Based on the facts and circumstances collected during the investigation, this matter is CLEARED BY ARREST as warrants have been issued for Matthew.
