On April 1st, 2026, at approximately 16:15 hours, Bridgemill zone deputies were dispatched to a suspicious person call at [REDACTED]. Cherokee dispatch advised a 911 caller said a white male was running down the roadway without any clothes on, and had possibly fought the caller’s juvenile son and tried to take him into the woods. I responded to he incident and arrived at approximately 16:20 hours.

On my arrival, I noticed multiple Cherokee Sheriff’s Office deputies speaking with a shirtless white male in front of their patrol vehicles. I observed another group of people near the mailbox of [REDACTED] and spoke with them. [WITNESS #1], the original caller, stated her 9 year old son, [VICTIM #1], was one of the three children involved in the incident.

[WITNESS #1] continued to say that she had been calling [VICTIM #1] home through the woods and he was not answering her. She drove over to [REDACTED] and saw a shirtless white male at the bottom of the driveway. She did not recognize the male and first believed it was one of her son’s friends. The male then began speaking to her and making no sense, and also began stumbling around. [WITNESS #1] thought the male was drunk or on drugs and then spoke to [VICTIM #1].

[VICTIM #1] said the shirtless male had come out of the woods while the three children were playing on the trampoline. The male then attempted to get [VICTIM #1] to enter the woods, then held the safety net on the edge of the trampoline to trap the children on it. I collected [WITNESS #1] and [VICTIM #1]’s information and met with the parents of the other juveniles.

I spoke with [REDACTED] and her juvenile son, [VICTIM #2]. [VICTIM #2] stated he and the other two juveniles were playing on the trampoline at [REDACTED]. They saw the shirtless white male come out of the woods from behind [REDACTED] and then walk to [REDACTED]. [VICTIM #2] stated the male walked over to the trampoline and began saying weird things, but could not remember exactly what he said. They told the shirtless male to leave them alone, but he continued standing in front of the trampoline where the slit exit was for the safety net around the trampoline.

[VICTIM #2] continued saying they did not feel safe with the male around and felt as if they could not leave the trampoline because of how the male was acting and where he was standing. Eventually the male left the trampoline area and walked down the driveway of [REDACTED] to the roadway. [VICTIM #2] went back to his house, and the juvenile female went inside to her home to call her parents. [VICTIM #2] stated that the male did not close the safety netting of the trampoline, nor did he touch or threaten them or block them from leaving, only that they felt unsafe when he was standing by them.

I then spoke with the third juvenile, [VICTIM #3], and her father and mother [REDACTED]. [VICTIM #3] stated they saw the shirtless male come out of the woods behind [VICTIM #2]’s house and walk to them while they were playing on the trampoline. The male started talking to them about weird things and was not making complete sense. [VICTIM #3] continued to say that the male did not block them into the trampoline or hold the safety net shut, but only stood outside the trampoline. [VICTIM #3] said she yelled at the male to leave multiple times before he started to walk down the driveway; she then ran inside to call her parents.

I collected all parties information and informed deputies of the statements. While talking to Lieutenant Halstead, Deputy Nowiak and Corporal Holloman, they informed me the shirtless male, Seth Cartledge, was intoxicated and had not been making sense while talking to them. They also spoke with Seth’s father, who stated his son had been drinking alcoholic beverages earlier in the day and left the house on foot. I met back with the parents of the juveniles and gave them all case cards to document the incident. All the parents wished to have Seth criminally trespassed from their properties and to have no contact with their children.

Seth was removed from the patrol vehicle he was sitting in and informed he was under arrest for Simple Assault, Criminal Trespass, Public Drunk, and Disorderly Conduct. Seth was handcuffed, searched, and placed into Deputy Bomeisl’s patrol vehicle, where he was transported to the Cherokee ADC. I followed Deputy Bomeisl to the jail and Seth was released into the custody of ADC deputies without incident. I completed all proper booking paperwork, including a warrant to be taken form for the following charges:

Simple Assault: for placing all three children in fear of receiving a physical injury if they attempted to leave the trampoline with Seth was outside of it
Criminal Trespass: for physically trespassing onto the [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] properties and not leaving immediately when told to do so by the occupants
Disorderly Conduct: by shouting and yelling while talking to the juveniles, all under the age of 14, and placing them in fear of their safety
Public Drunk: by appearing, and later confirmed to be, intoxicated in the curtilage of a private residence not being his own, and attempting to engage multiple juveniles while being clothed only with underwear/shorts and using loud and unbecoming language

At the ADC, Seth was issued a criminal trespass warning for the three properties of the juveniles and their families, and informed if he returned to the properties he would be arrested. Seth was also informed to stay away from the three juveniles. Seth stated he understood the warning. A warrant will be secured in a timely manner.
