CLARKE COUNTY, Ga. – Trevor Etienne, a University of Georgia running back, faced arrest on March 24, 2024, and was charged with DUI, failing to maintain lane, and reducing visibility in his vehicle with affixed materials on the windows/windshield. On Wednesday, July 10, 2024, Etienne attended his hearing in an Athens courtroom and pleaded guilty to failure to maintain lane, a window tinting violation, and underage possession of alcohol; he pleaded no contest to a reckless driving charge.
The court dropped the DUI under 21 years of age and DUI less safe charges and sentenced Etienne to 12 months on probation. He received two fines totaling just under $1,400.
The Florida transfer must also undergo a substance abuse evaluation, attend an alcohol risk reduction program, and complete community service.
Reports revealed that in the early morning of March 24, an officer spotted a gray car speeding and driving erratically. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle outside The Retreat on Milledge: UGA Apartments, a housing center that offers students premier apartment homes.
Etienne admitted to drinking alcohol and told the officer he was “just trying to get home.” He reportedly stated that he could push his vehicle home rather than drive and did not consent to field sobriety testing.
The officer noted, “During this interaction with Etienne, he continuously sway[ed] back and forth while standing on flat ground. His eyes were glossed over, and his speech was slurred.”
Before joining UGA, Etienne played with the Florida Gators for two seasons. His older brother, Travis Ettiene Jr., currently plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars as a running back.
