COBB COUNTY, Ga. – Confirmed on Monday, March 3, 2025, Atlanta Braves catcher, 24-year-old Sean Murphy, will miss at least four to six weeks of practice and play due to a fractured rib he recently sustained.

Murphy was traded to the Braves in December 2023 by the Oakland Athletics. Although listed as an All-Star in 2023, he suffered an abdominal strain during last season’s opening game, subsequently diminishing his performance.

The catcher’s injury positions player Drake Baldwin to step in for the remainder of spring training, which began on February 22 and ends on March 25, and the beginning of the official season.

The team defeated the Miami Marlins on Friday, 7-2, ended their game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday in a 1-1 tie, and proved victorious against the New York Yankees on Sunday, 11-1. The Braves face the Tampa Bay Rays, the Minnesota Twins, and the Miami Marlins again in the next few matchups.

Fans have several options for viewing the available games on YouTubeTV, PeachtreeTV (the CW Network), DirecTV, and others. Atlanta-based Gray Media is scheduled to simulcast 15 seasonal games and 10 spring training matchups.
